[Left internal paraduodenal hernia: a case in a young adult].

The authors report the case of a left paraduodenal hernia which involved almost the entire small intestine in a 15 year old girl who presented with recurrence episodes of acute abdominal pain associated with König's syndrome. Radiologic examination (plain film of the abdomen and upper GI series with small bowel follow-through) was suspicious, but did not establish the diagnosis due to unfamiliarity with the radiologic appearance of the condition. The roentgenograms are shown as well as the intraoperative findings. Anatomic, pathophysiologic, clinical, and radiologic characteristics are reviewed.

Abdomen, Acute↗

Radiological aspects of the small bowel after extensive resection in children.

The authors present radiological aspects of small bowel after extensive resection. They describe the main phenomena related to compensatory hypertrophy: dilatation of the loops, mucosal fold-thickening and motor disturbances. The main complications demonstrated by the radiological examination are presented; gallstones, non-functioning anastomosis, bacterial overgrowth.

Hydatid cyst of the liver: comparison of CT and MRI.

Twenty-seven cases of proven liver hydatid cysts were examined by MR and CT. On MR the cyst wall showed a rim of low signal intensity on both T2- and T1-weighted imaging. This capsule was more easily identified by MR than by CT. Specific signs of daughter hydatid cysts and detachment of the membrane were also evident by CT and MR examinations. Magnetic resonance was more effective than CT in detecting complications of the cyst; the first echo of T2-weighted imaging showed a very high signal of the hydatid content in cysts that communicated with the biliary tree or in superinfected cysts. However, MR did not help characterize solid or pseudotumoral forms of hydatid disease.

[X-ray computed tomography of fractures of the calcaneum. Apropos of 30 cases].

Computed tomography and lateral plain films have been studied in 30 fractures of calcaneus. C.T. allows us to study in the same time the two feet, with low mobilisation. Two planes are mandatory: --one, along the long axis of the calcaneus, allows a good evaluation of calcaneo-cuboïd joint, of the quality of the bone structure and of the large fragments or comminution; --the other one (coronal in 18 cases of along the tuberosity in 16 cases) shows directly the subtalar joint lesions (impaction, joint incongruence) and plantar fracture line. This study conclude that CT is useful for the evaluation of the severity calcaneus fractures and for treatment selection because of a better evaluation of lesions.
