[Dura mater chondroma. A case report and review of the literature].

Intradural chondromas are exceedingly rare intracranial tumors. We present a case of intradural chondroma. It is a clinical and radiological presentation, with special emphasis on CT appearance. The CT scan demonstrated a mass lesion with intratumors calcification areas, and slight enhancement after intravenous injection of contrast. The differential diagnosis with calcified meningioma is histological.

[Vagal paraganglioma associated with a rare malformation of the aortic arch. Apropos of a case and review of the literature].

The authors report about a very peculiar case of cervical paraganglioma which had two specific features. This is a familial case with 2 sisters presenting with bilateral paragangliomas. In addition, this patient's aortic trunk is very peculiar, with a retroesophageal right subclavian artery and, above all, a divided intrathoracic right common carotid artery, producing an ascending pharyngeal supply for the right paraganglioma, which can be embolized without any risks of reflux.

The antitumor activity of some palladium(II) complexes with chelating ligands.

A range of palladium(II) complexes with chelating ligands were assayed for their antitumor activity against the tumors P388 and S180 in female mice. The complexes tested were [Pd(L)(ONO2)2] (L = 2,2'-bipyridyl,2-(aminoethyl)pyridine (aep), 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (amp], [Pd(eth)Cl2] (eth = ethionine) and [Pd(dach)(Meorot)] (dach = trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, Meorot = dianion of 3-methylorotic acid). The complexes were administered in water except [Pd(dach)(Meorot)] which was a suspension in klucel. The LD0 values were greater than or equal to 100 mg/kg. None of the complexes were active against the P388 tumor. [Pd(L)ONO2)2] (L = aep, amp) showed marginal activity against S180, while [Pd(dach-)(Meorot)] had an optimal T/C of 267% at dose of 150 mg/kg with 2/10 survivors on day 60.

[MRI/CT x-ray comparison in the pre-operative evaluation of cancer of the larynx. Apropos of 46 cases].

The authors present the comparative value of CT scan and MRI in the pre-operative staging of 46 laryngeal carcinomas. The "in depth" evaluation conducts the choice of conservative surgery. CT scan is the reference but MRI reveals itself as effective and even more in certain cases. The spontaneous contrast gradient for soft tissues of the MR imaging explains this effectiveness of the method. The paraglottic space and the subglottic extension are more easily studied by MRI. If the expansion of the MRI Unities allows this indication of the pre-operative staging of laryngeal carcinomas is an excellent one.

[Scoliotic malformations with or without associated occult spinal dysraphia. A study in 82 children. Current radiological techniques, indications and findings].

The possible association of spinal dysraphia with scoliotic malformations was studied in 82 children. Scoliotic malformations are not always the result of dysraphic malformations (diastematomyelia, hydromyelia, intrathecal lipoma, medullary cone ectopia). Recognition of dysraphic scoliotic malformations from among other types of scoliotic malformations can be accomplished before myelography by detecting vertebral malformations on standard films and, if necessary, by computed tomography. Segmental vertebral malformations, affecting vertebral bodies only, do not appear to arise from malformations of nerves. On the contrary, however, dysraphic lesions are always associated with vertebral neural malformations. Of currently employed techniques, only myelography with metrizamide, followed by computed tomography, gives the maximum amount of data concerning the lesions. Even the association of these two techniques does not demonstrate the presence of certain intrathecal fibrous lesions, due to lack of resolution.
