Primary structure of Escherichia coli RNA polymerase nucleotide substitution in the beta subunit gene of the rifampicin resistant rpoB255 mutant.

The transducing phage lambda dsupM814 and the plasmid pIB1830 containing the wild-type rpoB gene have been constructed and the primary structure of the gene's central fragment has been established. In contrast with the wild-type, the gene of the rpoB255 mutant, whose primary structure has been published, was found to contain an A.T. leads to T.A. transversion entailing the substitution of a valine residue for the aspartic acid residue (516) of the wild-type beta subunit.

Chemical-enzymatic synthesis of biologically active DNA fragments.

In this communication we report our recent investigations concerned the design and construction of synthetic functionally active DNA fragments: the structural gene for pentapeptide Leu-enkephalin and the double-stranded 93 base pairs long polynucleotide representing the promoter region of bacteriophage fd DNA. The ways for synthesis of modified promoter analogs carrying photosensitive residues of 5-bromodeoxyuridine in different positions of the chain are also considered.

[Primary structure of cytoplasmic aspartate aminotransferase from pig heart muscle. Amino acid sequence of peptides from cyanogen bromide hydrolysate].

Amino acid sequences were determined for the six peptides from cyanogen bromide hydrolysis of cytoplasmic aspartate aminotransferase. These peptides accounted for 177 amino acid residues of the enzyme. Partial sequence of N-terminal peptide accounting for 212 amino acid residues of enzyme was also determined.
