[Scintigraphic findings of liver and spleen in dermatomyositis].

In 3 patients with dermatomyositis scintigraphic examination of liver and spleen revealed in every case diseases of the liver such as hepatoma, hepatomegaly and damage of the liver parenchyma. Therefore scintigraphic examination of liver and spleen in patients with dermatomyositis is suggested to exclude primary or secondary affections of these organs.

[Treatment of psoriasis. New possibility of psoriasis treatment using long-wave UV light and a photosensitizer].

Report about the effect of the therapy of psoriasis with topical application of Meladinine and blacklight as inaugurated by Mortazawi and Oberste-Lehn as well as Tronier. In a high percentage of patients treated a regression of the lesions could be observed. As this therapy is possible for ambulatory patients the number of cases in need of stationary treatment may be reduced.

[Study on a Trichophyton quinckeanum species with a distinctly marked fluorescence of the scutulum in animal experiments].

A vesicular skin lesion which existed since 1 week in the lower part of the leg of a 45-year-old woman appeared to be caused by fungus which was identified as Trichophyton quinckeanum (Zopf) MacLeod & Muende. The patient could not state to have had contact with animals. Peroral administration of griseofulvin and local application of 2% salicyl--5% sulfur--vaseline alternate with tonoftal cream healed the lesion completely. The fast growing fungus produced white, convoluted colonies with a brown, lat er wine-red reverse. Globose and club-shaped, one- and two-celled microconidia were formed especially 'en thrse'. The majority of the thin-walled macroconidia had rounded apices but a fusiform type of spore was also seen. Germination of the macroconidia was frequently observed. Experimental infection into the dorsal skin of white laboratory mouse produced a scutulum with a bright yellow later green fluorescence in Wood's light. The taxonomy of Trichophyton quinckeanum is briefly discussed.

[Spermatological and histological findings in patients with varicocele (author's transl)].

In 31 patients with unilateral idiopathic varicocele it was sought to correlate spermiogram and morphology of testis, particularly germinative epithelium, interstitial connective tissue and blood vessels. In both testes of all of 12 patients with pathological sperm striking morphological changes were found, from depletion of germinative cells to Sertoli-cell-only syndrome and including fibrosis of the interstitial tissue, reduction and occasionally diffuse or nodular hyperplasia of the Leydig cells as well as typical vascular changes. Due to alterations to the vascular walls the germinative epithelium had degenerated, this accounting for sub- and infertility, In the prophylaxis of fertility disturbances, the findings indicate that the same aspects apply to both varicocele and undecended testis.

[Vitiliginous depigmentation, liver and splenic lesions and struma due to occupational contact with paratertiary butylphenol--a new systemic occupational disease].

In workers occupied with the production of paratertiary butylphenol, a hepatosplenopathy and a goiter with disorder of the synthesis of thyroid hormone have been observed for the first time besides the well-known vitiliginous depigmentation. It is supposed that paratertiary butylphenol has a systemic effect and causes lesions of various organic systems.

[Systemic changes in occupational vitiligo].

In three patients with occupational vitiligo caused by paratertiary butylphenol--the first cases observed in the BRD--a functional disorder of the liver was found. In two of these patients splenomegaly was seen. The laboratory findings, the laparoscopic examination and the result of the liver-biopsy are described. It is assumed that these changes as well as the depigmentation and a functional disorder of the thyroid (described elsewhere) are caused by the systemic action of inhaled paratertiary butylphenol.
