[Behavior of HBs Ag and HBs Ab in chronic hepatitis].

The preliminary results of the HB, Ag and HBs Ab assay, performed with radioimmunological techniques in 31 cases of chronic hepatitis, 13 of whom carriers of chronic aggressive hepatitis (C.A.H.), 9 of chronic persistent hepatitis (C.P.H.) and 9 of cryptogenetic hepatic cirrhosis (C.H.C.) of both sexes, are reported. The highest number of HBs Ag positive cases was observed both in C.A.H. (69%) and C.H.C. (55%); very lower the HBs Ag positivity both in C.A.H. (33%) and C.H.C. (33%). No correlation between HBs Ag positive and HBs Ab positive was observed.

Theoretical comparison between structural and dynamical features of Dolastatins 11 and 12 antineoplastic depsipeptides.

Molecular mechanics (MM) and dynamics (MD) calculations in vacuo and in water have been performed for the natural cyclodepsipeptides Dolastatins 11 and 12 isolated from the sea hare Dolabella auricularia. The analysis of the MD trajectories for the two systems can give useful insight on the backbone structural features, side-chain and peptide-water interactions as well as on the inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds. A comparison between the selected and analysed lowest energy isomers shows the different conformational behaviour of the compounds. Finally, with the aim to ascertain a structure-activity relationship for the two peptides, the interactions of both Dolastatins with water, generic hydrophobic environment, magnesium and calcium ions have been investigated by means of the GRID program.

[Experimental study on efficacy of thermal muds of Ischia Island combined with balneotherapy in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris with plaques].

A lot of studies show the efficacy of thermal therapy in psoriasis. The main indications concern all forms of psoriasis (except for pustolosa and eritrodermic) especially diffuse psoriasis, intensive itchy, artropatic psoriasis and gutted psoriasis child. Benefit effects of thermal water and muds, which are important parameters in psoriasis' treatment, they are excellent to reduce inflammation, scaling, and erythema. In this study we evaluated the clinical efficacy of thermal bath plus muds in patients affected by psoriasis. 18 patients has been examined and randomly divided in 3 group (A-B-C). All the patients received thermal therapy for 4 weeks. To evaluate the behaviour of the disease we performed (corneometry, sebometry, phmetry), as well as evaluation of P.A.S.I. At the end of the study, values of P.A.S.I. showed a reduction from 10 to 6 unites P.A.S.I. for patients belong to group A, more 12 to less 10 for patients belong to group C e no significant variations for group B (because represent control group). Results obtained can be considered useful, considering that thermal treatment was used alone in the treatment of all patients.

[Water perception and utilization in a sample of students in the province of Viterbo].

Nowadays water quality is certainly one of the issues of major concern. Control on waterway considerably involves public hygiene services and represents a prevention activity and a measure of public health safety, which often is unknown to the population. For this reason the Public Hygiene Service of Viterbo L.H.U. (Local Health Unit) in collaboration with the Institute of Hygiene of the Catholic University of Rome carried out a survey to evaluate perception towards tap water quality in a sample of students. During the last decade tap and mineral water consumption habits turned out to be constant. The great majority of students reported to use widely mineral water at home; mineral water consumption was high regardless of social class. Since our investigation found a large use of mineral water in this town, the L.H.U. could intervene to modify these attitudes, starting up with an education campaign of the population: tap water is indeed subject to quality controls with a higher frequency compared to mineral water.
