[Characterization of destructive pulmonary tuberculosis (by the results of a clinicomathematical analysis)].

The results of examination of 56 patients with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis, which involved the study of biochemical parameters characterizing different stages of an inflammatory process, as well as clinical and X-ray findings were analyzed, by applying various multivariate statistical methods. This approach was shown to be promising for estimating the severity of the process and for specifying the stage of development of an inflammatory process in some patients.

[The use of nebivolol in menopausal women with hypertension].

Nebivolol was given for 8 weeks to 34 menopausal women with grade 1 and 2 hypertension. Monotherapy was effective in 66,7% of patients, while in other patients combination with hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg) was required. The use of nebivolol was associated with decreased rate and severity of vasomotion reactions and thus with positive effect on menopausal syndrome. Nebivolol appeared to be safe and metabolically neutral.

[Various humoral factors regulating blood pressure in patients with hypertension during treatment by an impulse magnetic field].

Renin activity, aldosterone, prostaglandin (PGF2 alpha and PGB) and cyclic nucleotide levels and catecholamine excretion were measured in 165 essentially hypertensive patients exposed to therapeutic effects of "running" impulse magnetic field (RIMF). The correction of arterial blood pressure in RIMF-treated patients is shown to be mediated by BP-controlling humoral factors, the magnitude and direction of changes in levels and activity of biologically-active substances and hormones being determined by their respective baselines. A decrease of hyperfunction, as reflected in elevated hormonal production, and an increase of hypofunction were the most common therapeutic effect of RIMF exposure.

[Plasma prostaglandins in hypo-and hypertensive neurocirculatory dystonia].

Investigations were carried out at rest and after physical exercise (50 and 75% from maximum) with pressor Fl-alpha and F2 alpha and depressor (A, E) fraction of prostaglandins (PG) in 10 healthy individuals, in 10 patients with neurocirculatory dystoniaa with hypertension and in 10 patients with neurocirculatory dystonia with hypotension. In patients with hypertension at rest as compared to the healthy individuals there was increase of content of pressor and decrease of depressor fractions of PG, in patients with hypotension changes in PG were of the reverse type. In adaptation to physical load at different stage of load levels definite trends in changes in the PG content have been recorded, close to such changes in the healthy subjects and patients with hypotension, and a reverse trend in persons with hypertension.

[Organization of the parenchymula of the endemic Baikal sponge Swartschewskia papyracea (Dyb)].

The larva of the endemic Baikal sponge Swartschewskia papyracea freely swimming in water is a parenchymula which contains all main types of cells peculiar for the definitive sponge. Ultrastructure of these cells is described. Flagellar cells of the larva form a continuous layer with signs of polarity in distribution of organoids and inclusions specific for epithelial cells. Early specialization of collencytes secures, already at the larval stage, synthesis of a specific protein--collagen. Cytoplasm of blastomere-like nucleolar amoebocytes is overloaded with yolky inclusions at various stages of digestion. A developed Golgi complex is characteristic for this type of cells. Amoeboid cells with peculiar inclusions limited with a membrane and filled with a fine fibrillar material having central electron opaque granules are revealed.
