[Effect of the protease inhibitor contrical on oxidative phosphorylation and proteolysis in kidney under thermal ischemia].

Morphological (at the tissue, cellular and subcellular levels) and biochemical (determination of the autolysis intensity, proteolytic activity for casein and BAPNA splitting, the level of oxidation phosphorylation) methods were used to show that a preliminary administration to the animal organism of contrical, an inhibitor of proteases partially prevents the kidneys, which endured a two-hour ischemia from development of irreversible changes, favours the preservation of the renal parenchyma structure, and stabilizes the energy status of cells.

[Energy metabolism in subcellular fractions of normal and acute ischemic kidneys].

The level of oxidative phosphorylation, activity of phosphofructokinase, fructose-1,6-diphosphate aldolase, ketose-1-phosphate aldolase, glucose-6-phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase are determined in subcellular fractions in the kidney cortex layer of rabbits which have suffered from acute ischemia (for 15, 30, 60, 120 min). Ischemia inhibits the oxidative processes in mitochondria which is proportional to the duration of the effect. An increase in the activity of glycolytic chain enzymes in microsomes and soluble fraction for 15-30 min of ischemia evidences for a compensation of the energy losses at the expense of glycolysis with short periods of ischemia. Glycolysis is inhibited with a more prolonged effect. It is established that the anti-ischemic protection of the organ viability is to be conducted not only with allo- but also with auto-transplantation of the kidney in case of short acute ischemia.

[Activity of energy metabolism enzymes and their isoenzymic spectra in normal prostate and testis tissue and in experimental prostatitis].

The paper deals with the effect of bacterial affection of the canine prostate on the activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDG), malate dehydrogenase (MDG), isocytrate dehydrogenase (IDG), succinate dehydrogenase (SDG), isoenzymic spectrum of LDG and MDG in the prostate tissue and the activity of LDG and its isoenzymic spectrum in the testis tissue. It is established that two months after the infection the activity of LDG in the prostate tissue increases and that of IDG and SDG lowers. The activity of LDG1 and LDG2 drops and that of LDG3, LDG4, LDG5 rises. In the testis tissue changes in the activity of LDG and its isoenzymic spectrum have the same tendency, however they are pronounced to a much less extent. The activity of LDG kappa lowers essentially. In winter the intensity of oxygen uptake by the normal tissues under study falls, however no changes are observed in the activity of LDG kappa in the testis. An assumption is advanced that the bacterial affection of the prostate may have an inhibitory effect on the generative function of the testis.

[Effect of galascorbin on activity of lactate and malate dehydrogenases and their isoenzymic spectrum in experimental pyelonephritis].

It is shown that per os administration of galascorbin to animals with acute experimental pyelonephritis in a dose of 100 mg/1 kg of mass per day normalizes the total activity of lactate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.27), malate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.37) and their isoenzymic spectrum in kidney tissue and blood serum. The content of pyruvic and lactic acids in blood serum also normalizes, that promotes a favourable course of the disease.

[Activity of glutamine deaminating enzymes in the kidneys, liver and serum of dogs with renal failure and under normal conditions].

Among all the glutamine deaminating enzymes the highest activity was exhibited by phosphate-dependent glutaminase (72% of the total activity) in kidney cortex and blood serum of healthy dogs and by phosphate-independent glutaminase (47% of the total activity)--in liver tissue. A distinct decrease in the activity of both isoforms of glutaminase I (phosphate-dependent and phosphate-independent enzymes) and of glutaminase II (pyruvate-dependent enzyme) occurred in kidney under conditions of acute and chronic kidney insufficiency. The phosphate-independent glutaminase activity was decreased and, by contrast, activities of phosphate- and pyruvate-dependent glutaminases were increased in liver tissue under the conditions of acute kidney insufficiency. In blood serum under conditions of acute and chronic insufficiency the glutaminase I (both forms) activity was distinctly dcreased, but the glutaminase II activity had a marked trend to elevation. Possible mechanisms responsible for an alteration of glutamine deaminating enzymes in kidney, liver tissue and blood serum of dogs under acute and chronic kidney insufficiency are discussed.
