[Morphofunctional changes in the spleen in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura].

Morphofunctional changes in the spleen in this disease were assessed using a number of histological, histoenzymochemical, morphometric, cytological, and immunological methods. The study included 52 operatively removed spleens. Hyperplastic changes in the white pulp varying in different age groups were demonstrated. Irrespective of the age, an increase in the number of macrophages and a decrease in the number of rosette-forming cells in the spleen tissue were observed, indicating disorders in cooperation of cells of the immunocompetent system, immunodeficiency state.

[Several clinic-morphologic aspects and problems concerning the pathogenesis of the Marchiafava-Miche li syndrome (paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria].

The authors present a broad pathoanatomic picture and concise clinical-laboratory characteristics of Marchiafava-Micheli's disease on the basis of their studies of case record date of 31 patients, data of 13 autopsies and findings of 27 treanobiopsies. Changes in the organs observed in Marchiafava-Micheli's disease were first of all morphological manifestations of massive intravascular hemolysis and associated with latter complications The most characteristic pathoanatomic feature was changes in the bone marrow which manifested themselves in hyperplasis of nuclear forms of the red series and in drastically pronounced disorders of the microcirculation. Necrobiotic changes in the kidney accompanied by massive hemosiderosis, dystrophic changes in the liver with the development of cirrhosis, inhibition of lymphopoiesiis in the spleen and lymph nodes were detected most often...

[Treatment and prevention of experimental pneumonias, caused by L forms of bacteria].

On a model of experimental pneumonia in mice caused by the L-forms of bacteria against the background of diminished immunity a study was made of the therapeutic efficacy of penicillin, lincomycin, lysozyme and gamma-globulin. Lincomycin, particularly in combination with biologically-active preparations, proved to be expedience for the treatment and prophylaxis of pneumonia caused by the mentioned bacteria; a rapid arrest of pneumonic process occurred and more animals survived. In the greater percentage of cases the use of penicillin was accompanied by generalization of the process.
