[Contemporary laboratory markers of early stages of vibratory pathology development].

Having analyzed literature data and results of their own research, the authors describe early alterations on the cellular and molecular levels of the organism in exposure to local and general vibration. Those include changes in oxidative metabolism, immune shifts, lesions of cell membranes, deterioration of blood rheology, lesions of muscular and connecting tissues, disturbances of mineral exchange. The paper suggests a complex of laboratory tests for early detection of prepathological conditions of the organism in exposure to vibration. It includes measurement of certain parameters, such as the serum levels of vitamin E, malonic dialdehyde, immunoglobulins IgA, IgM, IgG, circulating immune complexes as well as assessment of antioxidative activity, peroxide erythrocyte hemolysis, spontaneous and ADF-induced thrombocyte aggregation, measurement of erythrocyte diameter and volume, creatinine and oxiproline urine concentration, myoglobine blood level and copper serum level. The above parameters are of sufficiently high diagnostic sensitivity and reflect the main aspects of vibratory pathology pathogenesis.

[Evaluation of informative value of laboratory tests and test complexes for the occupational diseases].

The authors discuss the criteria for rational selection of laboratory parameters most informative for the diagnosis of occupational diseases. Such criteria as diagnostic significance, diagnostic specificity, diagnostic informative value according to Kulback (Igx), and diagnostic selectiveness ensure the optimal selection of laboratory parameters for the diagnosis of occupational diseases. Diagnostic sensitivity is not a stable value, as it depends on the disease severity and degree of exposure to harmful factors. Basic requirements, which should be taken account of when selecting the complex of laboratory methods for the diagnosis of occupational diseases, are defined.

[Elaboration and improvement of biochemical methods in early diagnosis and prognostication of the development of occupational diseases].

The article summarizes and analyzes scientific and practical studies conducted by Laboratory Department of Moscow Erisman Hygienic Research Institute. The theoretic works described resorption of Metallic ions from digestive tract into the blood, revealed mathematic dependence of resorption coefficient on ion radius and potential, hydration heat, solubility and other physical and chemical parameters. The scientists developed basic requirements for hazards detection in human biologic material during hygienic and toxicologic clinical investigations. A suggested bunch of biochemical and immunologic methods helps in early and differential diagnosis of respiratory diseases caused by dust. Refinements in some biochemical and toxicologic chemical methods enable to improve metrological characteristics, reduce reagents amount, simplify the methods.

[Measurement of lead and cadmium in urine and blood by the inversion volta amperometry using SVA-IBM analyzer].

The authors suggest a method evaluating lead and cadmium in human urine by means of new Russian device SVA-IBM (CBA-IBM). Inversion volta amperometry forms a basis of the method that is quite sensitive, precise and selective. Substances normal for mineralized urine and blood do not interfere with the evaluation. The method is recommended for evaluation of lead and cadmium for clinical, hygienic, toxicological purposes. Unlike polarographic method, the technique requires no metallic mercury and highly pure inert gas.

[The manifestation of immune reactions and the chromium content of the blood in patients with occupational allergic dermatoses].

One of the mechanisms responsible for occupational dermatoses of constructors in contact with Cr-containing substances is supposed to be antibodies production as a result of Cr ion migration in the blood. The authors' measurements led them to the conclusions that no significant rise in blood Cr content occurs with an increase in the service duration, there is a close relationship between Cr blood concentrations and specific skin tests as well as between blood Cr and allergic manifestations. In patients with initial and established forms of occupational dermatosis the number of positive responses to Cr skin tests and frequency, intensity of allergic reactions grow with elevation of Cr concentrations in the blood. It is inferred that the test for blood chromium may serve an additional criterium of early diagnosis of occupational dermatosis.

[Lead levels in workers' blood and urine].

The relation between lead content in urine and blood of workers and the degree of manifestation of a disease is analysed in the paper. It has been found out that along with the increase in lead content in biomedia the severity of its effect on the organism is increased too. It has been shown that the determination of this element in urine is characterized by high diagnostic significance (more than 95%). The rate of lead excretion with urine increases with the increase of severity of a disease, and it is twice as much in people with chronic lead intoxication compared to that in practically healthy workers. It is proposed that determination of urine lead content be included as an obligatory test into the examination of workers in contact with lead.

[Methodological approach to the evaluation of health status of white-collar workers].

According to the results of a complex examination of white-collar workers the data on medical checkups, assessment of the body functional state, mental and physical work capacity, risk factors were used as criteria of their health status. Three levels of health were conditionally determined and individual measures aimed at primary and secondary disease prevention motivated along with their terms and tactics.

[Value of biochemical and immunological indicators in differential diagnosis of dust-induced diseases of the respiratory organs].

It was determined that immunological parameters are of highest diagnostic significance: levels of lymphocytes subpopulation (T- and O-lymphocytes) and content of IgA and IgG. A new coefficient is suggested characterizing the ratio of albumin fractions to the sum of alpha 2- and nu-globulins fractions. A diagnostic complex consisting of most informative and accessible for the practical public health indicators is suggested.
