Several keys to West Jefferson Medical Center's supply chain success were: Developing a unified approach toward selecting and purchasing equipment and supplies that included strong physician representation. Using knowledge of vendor pricing with similar organizations to gain leverage during negotiations. Communicating the organization's financial status, data pertaining to products and vendors, and implications of purchasing decisions with medical staff in an open and honest fashion.
