[Hygienic assessment of inhalational effects of natural substances on the body].

Recently specific substances of natural origin, making people feel better and increasing their working ability, are used on a larger scale for breathing. Under the conditions of aerostimulation, better indices of nonspecific immune resistance (phagocytotic activity, cation protein content in granulocytes) and of immunological parameters (T- and B-systems of immunity, lysosomal-cation tests) as compared to the control have been observed. The influence of the preparation of the forest aerostimulator lead to the stimulation of the indices of the immune status.

Air

[Monitoring of indoor air of residential and public buildings].

The quality of the air medium of residential and public buildings has been studied; contaminants discharged from polymeric materials and contained in domestic dust have been identified. Due to a great medico-hygienic significance of this problem it is necessary, that joint studies be carried out by experts in the field of hygiene, builders, sanitary engineers, physicists and chemists with the aim of the assessment of buildings from the point of view of sources of pollution in them depending on the construction and contingent of the population. Indoor air monitoring will make it possible to develop the scientific basis of indoor air quality control.

Adult

[Hygienic evaluation of air and soil pollution with mercury in the area of location of a coke plant].

It has been established that processes of coal carbonization are accompanied by intensive mercury discharge into the air and soil. The maximum levels of ambient air contamination by mercury are determined 0.5 km away from the source--0.0016 mg/m3, 3 km away from the source--lower than 0.00024 mg/m3. Technogenic area of mercury is almost twice the territory of the plant, and it is stretched along the prevalent direction of the winds. Mercury concentrations at different distances away from the plant were 2.76 mg/kg (0.5 km), 1.97 mg/kg and 0.26 mg/kg. Simultaneous isolation of mercury from coals in the process of coal carbonization is recommended.
