[Models of frequency distribution of mitotic figures in the presence of partial mitotic synchronization].
When mitoses are randomly distributed in a given area, the distribution of the mitotic density follows a Poisson distribution and the variance V equals the mean M. When mitotic synchronization exists the variance becomes greater than the mean. It is shown that, if p is the probability of mitotic synchronization between "sister" cells, the ratio V/M = (1 + 3p)/(1 + p).
