[Effectiveness of a lactobacillus vaccine on trichomonas infections in women. Preliminary results].

This is the report on a multi-centre study of the treatment of 444 women with trichomoniasis vaginalis using Solcotrichovac, a vaccine containing at least 7 x 10(9) inactivated microorganisms of various strains of lactobacillus acidophilus in each 0.5 ml dose. One year after the first vaccination 427 of the patients (96.2%) were followed up, and 92.5% of them were found to be cured of clinical symptoms; the remaining 7.5% must be considered as not cured, as either the slide or the culture was positive. We are convinced by these results that vaccination with Solcotrichovac represents an enhancement of therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of trichomoniasis vaginalis.

[Corpus carcinoma and myomatous uterus. Incidence and course during the last 25 years].

The incidence of carcinoma corporis uteri and myoma uteri in the last 25 years was studied. The number of carcinoma of the uterine body is increasing in relation to other gynaecological cancers. Most cases occurred in the 6th and 7th decade of life. Small uterine cavities (up to 7.5 cm) and uterine weight of less than 100 grams show increasing frequency. The incidence of cavities larger than 10 cm and uteri weighing more than 200 grams is decreasing. The uterine cavity was in 47% larger than 9 cm. Uterine weight was more than 100 grams in 46% of the cases.

[Bladder stones as a complication of gynecologic surgery].

Two cases of urinary bladder-stone-formation after surgical treatment of a prolapsed uterus and an uterus-antefixation according to Kocher are reported. In both cases of synthetic, non absorbable suture was found. The patients suffered for several years from pollakisuria and dysuria although laboratory findings on the urine sediment were at least in an early stage not suspicious. The presence of urinary-bladder-stones was verified cystoscopically and the clinical symptomatology ceased promptly after removal of the concrements. Although formation of bladder-stone as described above seems to be quite rare, it should be prevented by the exclusive use of absorbable material in sutures in the region of the urinary bladder.
