[A case of hepatocholangitis (author's transl)].

Inflammation localised to the hepatic duct in the region of the neck of the gallbladder is rare. Regression of the lesions after cholecystectomy authentified its purely inflammatory nature. Its interest comes from possible confusion with carcinoma of the common bile duct. A case of cholangitis with 8 years follow up illustrates these facts and permits a few comments on the pathology of the junction between the cystic duct and the hepatic duct.

[Serum lipids in correlation with the localizations of atherosclerosis. A preliminary statistical study of 1 511 cases (author's transl)].

The frequency and nature of abnormalities of serum lipids have been studied in 1 511 patients in correlation with the localizations of atherosclerosis. The mean cholesterol concentration was significantly increased in coronary heart disease and mean triglyceride concentration was significantly increased in peripheral vascular disease. Mean values of R1 and B3 were higher in coronary heart disease, lower in cerebrovascular disease than in healthy subjects.

Arteriosclerosis↗

The internal cavoatrial derivation for temporary vascular exclusion of the liver in the dog.

Vascular exclusion of the liver by clamping the hepatic pedicle and inserting an internal cavoatrial shunt allows bloodless hepatic surgery to be performed. The internal cavoatrial shunt performed on 30 dogs was studied to define its optimal hemodynamic characteristics. The internal diameter should measure half the caliber of the inferior vena cava and the total surface of the holes allowing blood flow to the shunt must be three times the internal caliber of the shunt. The aortic clamping associated with the clamping of the hepatic pedicle and the insertion of the internal cavoatrial shunt considerably diminishes the arterial blood pressure variations resulting from the splanchnic stasis. Administration of methylprednisolone (30 mg/kg) at the beginning of the experiment also plays a role in preventing alterations in the small intestine.
