In certain cases, allergic respiratory phenomena appear to be connected with a particular dwelling place. This observations, if it is not explained by a specific allergen (eg. an animal), raises the possible contribution of domestic moulds. The author shows the results of a study on domestic moulds in 65 houses in the Bouches-du-Rhône by culture on Petri dishes. The species most often detected were Cladosporium, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Alternaria. In some houses identical fungi were found to those in the atmosphere, in others greater numbers were found inside than outside. The study of fungal spores is of great interest; it gives an idea of their numerical importance which can be considerable; in addition besides those fungi which are present in the routine battery of tests, it may show other species that should perhaps be considered in the diagnostic aetiology.

Low rupture of the tendon of the long head of the biceps is a rare lesion and surgical approach is hampered by constant anatomical features, in particular the radial nerve which is the most serious potential problem. The double anterior and posterior approach of Boyd and Anderson makes it possible to completely restore the action of the tendon of the long head of the biceps without running the risk of any nerve lesion. It is for this reason that the authors prefer it to other approaches, felt to be imperfect either in terms of their final result or their technical feasibility.
The quantum yield for light-induced proton extrusion in Halobacterium halobium cells pretreated with an ATPase inhibitor was measured between pH 5 and 9 using two separate spectrophotometric techniques. The transmittance of the cell suspension was measured with a spectrometer equipped with "end-on" photomultipliers, whereas the reflectance was measured using a light-integrating sphere. The potentialities of the two techniques are critically compared. These measurements are used to evaluate the intensities of light absorbed by the cells. Since the initial rates of proton release into the extracellular medium were simultaneously measured, the quantum yield values [QY(H+)] could be determined. The results obtained with the two techniques are in reasonable agreement. QY(H+) is 0.64 at pH 5.9 and decreases gradually to 0.28 at alkaline pH values.
Intravenous mexiletine (250 mg in 10 min) given to patients at the acute stage of a myocardial infarction was responsible of a mild decrease of the left ventricular function; two of our patients presented bradycardia with hypotension, immediately corrected by atropine (i.v.). Adverse hemodynamic effects are seldom reported after oral administration.

Three cases of unusual traumatic spinal cord injuries are reported. The cases were referred to the neurosurgical unit of Nancy, one tetraplegia and one paraplegia caused by transfixing wounds which were overlooked after the injury. The transfixing wound caused an associated meningitis with tetraplegia, and in the second case the initial small plural effusion associated with paraplegia even, in a very short while, evoked a possible diagnosis of leukaemia amongst others, until the knowledge of trauma had been ascertained, the child being then immediately transferred to the neurosurgical unit. Spanking, in the last case, was the cause of an important luxation of T12-L1, at first with a complete paraplegia, and was associated with the fact that the child was only seen a few days after by a doctor and immediately referred. The child made a full recovery from his paraplegia.

An exceptional case of a double urethra associated with an extrophied bladder in a neonate boy is reported. This particular malformation allows an ideal procedure with the recovery of a good continence. After the anatomic study of the anomalies, the authors try to find an embryologic explanation. The usual theories of the development in the cloacal region are discussed. Only the embryologenesis as described by SOLERE can explain this malformation.
A new case of pulmonary artery sling in a three months old boy is reported. After the sudden death of the patient, a precise anatomic study of the malformation was realized. With a complete cartilaginous ring usual in this malformation, there is a right upper lobe bronchus arising from the trachea above the anomalous vessel. The other anomalies of the tracheobronchial tree are discussed.

158 pneumoencephalographies of infants less than 2 years old were examined and 53 of them had a large cavum veli interpositi. A neuroradiological description of this cistern is given and a comparison made with injected anatomical specimens. A statistical comparison with 105 pneumoencephalographies without a cavum veli interpositi does not shown any correlation between the presence of this cistern and pathological conditions. This investigation indicates that a large cavum veli interpositi in the newborn has no relation to hydrocephalus or cerebral atrophy. The younger the child, the more frequent is the presence of this cistern, especially under eight months of age.
Using 31 corrosion preparations with fortacryl-minium, a new systematization of lumbar internal vertebral veins is suggested. The classical posterior longitudinal vein was not found. An anterior-lateral venous flow, composed of an anterior-internal venous canal and of an anterior-external venous canal was described. These venous canals jointly progress along internal face of the pedicle and leave a wider space between them in front of the exit foramina, to allow the passage of roots. The authors then study the transversal veins, the junction of the lumbar column with the sacral column and veins of the exit foramina.
