A human leucocyte migration inhibition test (HLMT) was performed in 50 healthy subjects and in 23 patients with bacteriologically confirmed listeriosis, using Listeria monocytogenes as antigen. Considerable inhibition was found in most patients, whereas the test was negative in all controls. In view of this consistent relationship between test and disease, it is suggested that the HLMT could be used for the indirect diagnosis of listeriosis, taking into account the delay between the onset of infection and the positivity of the test.

This report describes the psychological study of 130 children admitted to a paediatric haematology unit, where the personnel are sensitive to the needs of the infant and the parents also have their place. Taking several situations confronting the child with leukaemia, we try to stress the effect of the illness on schooling, family life and psychological function. The illness interrupt the psycho-affection development of the child and affects his relations to himself and others. Faced with childhood leukaemia, where somatic pathology and psychological difficulties interact, the psychologist has the role of listening to and supporting the child and the family as well as that of mediator with the personnel.

Ventricular aneurysm is the most severe segmental disorder of ventricular function. A group of 45 patients with ventricular aneurysms have been evaluated, correlating a total of 80 aneurysmatic segments with cineventriculographic findings. Seventy-one percent of the patients had multiple lesions. Except for three patients with normal coronary blood supply and apical aneurysm there was a positive correlation between the remaining aneurysmatic segments and significant lesions in the corresponding arteries. As in the three cases with normal coronary arteries, associated spasm was suspected in other eight cases showing significant vessel stenosis of less than 75 percent of the lumen. Detection of ventricular aneurysm in the cineventriculographic examination is highly suggestive of severe arterial damage.

Five cases of complex pneumoconiosis are described in dental prosthesis makers. The histo-spectrographic analysis with Castaing's microprobe of the lung fragment obtained by surgical biopsy revealed a complex disease associating silicosis of cobalt pneumoconiosis.
The authors carried out measurements of the gases (pH, PCO2, PO2, SaO2) on blood from the trochanter of 85 chronic hip diseases in 73 patients. Simultaneous measurements were made on the arterial blood and on the blood of the femoral vein of the same side. A statistically significant difference in blood PO2 and oxygen saturation between the group of necrosis of the femoral head and the group of osteoarthritic hips was found. There is a paradoxical oxygen hypersaturation in case of necrosis. This hypersaturation is observed to parallel the increase of the intramedullary pressure in the same bone area.
The authors analysed the case histories of 40 patients with cervical myelopathy and were struck by the frequency of associated vertebral hyperostosis (Forestier and Rotès-Quérol disease). They found 17 cases in which dorsal vertebral hyperostosis was indiscutable and in which there was acquired stenosis of the cervical canal related to the bony proliferations that had developed on the anterior face of the cervical canal and to the type of cells described by Forestier and Rotes-Querol on the anterior and lateral faces of the vertebral column. According to the present authors these posterior growths occurred in a site that has not previously been described for hyperostosis. These growths are likened to those observed by Japanese neurosurgeons since 1960. Their particular interest concerns their role in pathology.
