Mycologic study of tinea capitis in Qatar.

The causative dermatophytic species of tinea capitis were identified in 91 patients in Qatar. Microsporum canis was the most common isolated organism (86.81%) followed by Microsporum ferrugineum and Trichophyton violaceum. A gray patch type of tinea capitis was the predominant presentation (87.91%), and the disease was more prevalent among Qatari boys.

Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.

An unusual and extreme case of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome is presented. The patient has an extensive capillary hemangioma involving the right side of the body, increases in the length and girth of the right lower limb, gross varicosities of the superficial venous system, and complete absence of the deep venous system of the right lower extremity, with suprapubic shunt of the venous blood to the contralateral external iliac vein. Secondary manifestations are increased sweating and compensatory scoliosis.

Incontinentia pigmenti: a review.

The first reported case of the rare genodermatosis incontinentia pigmenti (Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome) affecting a 6-week-old Qatari girl is presented. An interesting feature in our patient is the simultaneous presence of several stages of lesion evolution. The clinical and pathologic features of incontinentia pigmenti are reviewed briefly.

Gonococcal urethritis with bilateral tysonitis.

A case of gonococcal urethritis with bilateral tysonitis is presented. Results of gram's stain and positive culture for Neisseria gonorrhoeae confirmed the diagnosis. The patient was treated successfully with aqueous procaine penicillin with probenecid followed by oral ampicillin for ten days.
