Persistent acantholytic dermatosis: sex-related differences in clinical presentation?

We report the case of a 58-year-old man with a chronic papular eruption of 10 years' duration. Histopathology revealed focal acantholytic dyskeratosis. This condition is thought to represent a distinct entity which has been reported under several names and frequently referred to as persistent acantholytic dermatosis. The relationship between this condition and transient acantholytic dermatosis (Grover's disease), emphasizing sex-related presentations, is discussed.

[Primary malignant non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the salivary glands. An anatomo-clinical and immunohistochemical study of 2 cases and a review of the literature].

The authors reports two cases of primary non Hodgkin's lymphomas of the right submandibular gland in a 50 years old woman, and of a minor gland in another woman also 50 years old. The diagnosis was difficult for the second case, and was established on the immunochemistry study. The authors discuss the epidemiological, clinical, radiological, pathological features of this neoplasm and its management.

[Histopathology and ultrastructure of opportunistic infections of the digestive tract in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome].

Light and electron microscopy studies of digestive tract biopsy specimens from AIDS patients are very useful for the detection of opportunistic pathogens which may be located in: the lumen (bacteria, Candida albicans, Giardia lamblia), enterocyte brush border (Cryptosporidium sp), enterocyte cytoplasm (Enterocytozoon bieneusi), enterocyte nuclei (cytomegalovirus), or cytoplasm of lamina propria macrophages (Mycobacterium avium intracellulare). These studies may also be useful to detect combinations of morbid conditions and to evaluate the effectiveness (if any) of therapeutic agents.

AIDS-Related Opportunistic Infections↗

[Hemangioma of the renal calyx].

A case of renal hemangioma in a child is reported. The patient presented with severe painless hematuria. Intravenous pyelography showed a filling defect in the middle calyx of the right kidney. Ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic zone in the renal sinus. Hematuria was unilateral on right side at cystoscopy. Total nephrectomy was performed. The diagnosis was confirmed by histology.

[Chondrosarcoma of the mandible. Clinicopathological study of a case].

The authors report a new case of chondrosarcoma of the mandible in a 24 year-old female patient. They insist on the rareness of this entity and on the difficulties in establishing this diagnosis from the clinical, radiological and pathological points of view. Elements of prognosis are discussed through a review of the literature.
