The integumental surface on the microfilaria of Dipetalonema viteae was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 1,200 to 20,000 magnification. This first study only concerns microfilaria in the circulating blood of the Hamster.
The integumental surface of adult Schistosoma mansoni was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 220 to 10,000 magnifications. SEM shows certain basic features such as spines in the oral sucker and the acetabulum which may facilitate rasping and attachment of the parasite to stay in the bloodstream of the definitive host. It seems likely that SEM visualization will be a means for differentiation some species of the genus Schistosoma.

Finding of specific anti-Fasciola antibodies in persons living in the central area of the delta of Niger shows that human fascioliasis is a reality in Mali. Fasciola gigantica, the single species affecting livestock is probably the parasite concerned. We think that this parasitic disease in humans is underestimated, obscured by schistosomiasis which is hyperendemic in the country. Complementary studies are much needed for better identification of the problem.
In Mali, a comparative study of O. volvulus and D. viteae filariasis antigens was made on 52 onchocerciasis sera with immunofluorescence immunoassay. At a dilution greater than 1/40, 34 sera are positive with homologous Ag against 24 with heterologous Ag.
In our attempts to elucidate the pathogenesis of prolonged Salmonella bacteremia in patients with Schistosoma mansoni or Schistosoma haematobium infection, we have utilised MEB. Our results are significant. They show an association exists between Bilharziasis and Salmonellosis.

The integumental surface of cercaria (Schistosoma mansoni was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 400 to 20,000 magnifications. Cercariae studied by SEM showed clearly the surface topography. The spines have been seen by light microscopists and recognised as an adaptation for penetration of the host.
A retrospective study on amoebiasis observed in the central hospital in Nantes since twenty years, shows that, at least, 16 % of the intestinal cases and 1/6, 5 of 30 cases of hepatic amoebiasis are autochthonous.
If the description in the literature is based on a study with the light microscope, in this work, with electron microscope scanning, the integumental surface on the larva of Dipetalonema viteae is studied at 1,500 to 50,000 magnifications.
In Bamako, Republic of Mali, 100 serum samples from african women were examined for antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii by SABIN and FELDMAN dye-test. Positive titres were obtained in 34 %. Disease was acquired probably after twenty years of age. This result shows that the risk of contamination during pregnancy is important, and that the problem needs to receive more attention in Africa.

The adult stages of Litosomosoides carinii, Dirofilaria uniformis and Dirofilaria immitis have been successfully maintained in vitro though microfilaria production by the worms continued only for a period of one to 18 days. In this paper we describe the results obtained in a series of experiments in which adult L1 and L2 stages of Dipetalonema viteae were maintained in vitro.
The study of iconographical data and of six american and african strains of B. dermatitidis allows us to conclude that there are several discriminating characters between the members of the Blastomyces dermatitidis complex. The african strains are distinguished by the lack of sexual forms and old strains show the lost of the M lead to Y conversion. An identical character prevails among the strains of the two continents: tuberculate conidia which are obtained on corn meal agar. The authors are insisting on the identical characters encountered on Blastomyces and Histoplasma. All the mycotic strains described from cases of Gilchrist disease possess a Chrysosporium period. The experimental Gilchrist disease performed on rodents is more often obtained with members of the genus Chrysosporium.
