[Systematic studies on decision making in dental therapy].

The decision for restorative treatment was analyzed in this study, and models were discussed. As model of the first approach, the dental treatment was reproducible, but the findings should not be considered universally valid since psychic factors were not considered.

[Electronic studies on the biological tolerance of the mandibular movement limits].

Three-dimensional synchronized position-limits of the mandible were electronically derived and evaluated in 10 adult subjects with normal mastication. It was shown that the respective positions could not be identically reproduced. To define this physiologic distribution, parameters were introduced with which the biologic tolerance and the reproducibility of the position-limits of the mandible can be described in the first approach.

[Prosthetic treatment of cleft patients after orthodontic treatment].

The relationship between the therapeutic effort of orthodontic and prosthetic measures was described ana analysed by means of net-plan technique. At the end of surgical treatment three treatment situations were found. Analysis showed that orthodontic and prosthetic therapeutic effort stood in a reciprocal relationship.

[A mathematical model of the alveolar periodontal function].

The process of loading and relieving dental and periodontal tissue is algebraically defined. The mathematic definition allows an energy balance to be established. The energy deficit observed after loading permtis the biotechnical analogy of the unit tooth-periodontium as a biological shock absorber, whose functioning can be controlled.

[Electronic studies of the 3-dimensional movement of the mandible].

With an improved electronic test arrangement, mandibular movement is recorded three-dimensionally as a function of distance and time and simultaneously as a kind of movement. The movement patterns registered by Posselt are, in principle, confirmed. As parameters for the further analysis of the mandibular movement, the characteristic function curves of the sagittal, vertical and lateral movements are presented as distance-time functions.

[Scientific theoretical models in dentistry].

Developments leading to modern medicine only began about 150 years ago. The foundation of this progress was laid by the introduction of scientific working methods into practical and theoretical medicine. The principal methodical procedures are described in the present work, defined and examined as to its scientific basis. Examples from dental, oral, and maxillo-facial surgery are given as proof that the models used in the definition of present day biological research are helpful not only give accuracy to content recognized by scientific method but also to assure transition from theoretical to practical science.

[Economic value in the therapy of edentulous masticatory system].

In the present paper it is tried to analyze the economic value of prosthetical treatment of edentulous jaws which has to be performed from the physiological and gnathological viewpoints. After defining the therapeutical objective and after standardizing case histories, and medical examinations as well as therapy, well-known individual methodological measures are described which are indispensable for achieving the therapeutical aim. Analysis of therapy, definition of therapeutical objective and standardization of case histories, medical examination, therapy, and methodological individual measures can be used for--rationalizing working procedures in the dental office, --evaluating new methods, --evaluating full dentures, --further elaborating ill-defined methodological steps, --investigating ill-defined therapeutical measures.
