[Diagnostic system for assessment of left ventricular function with 99mTc-albumin (author's transl)].

Diagnostic system is described that obtains a set of serial gated images (SGI) covering the entire cardiac cycles and left ventricular (LV) volume curve (VC) with high temporal resolution (10 msec). The system consists of two functional parts. The one, which is based upon an inexpensive modification of multiformat imaging device, yields SGI. The other, which is based on a minicomputer system, acquires data only from around about LV area and yields LVVC from ECG P wave without the reconstruction of these images. In as little as 5 min result, which is also corrected uniformity of gamma-camera, is given.

[Thirty years of Radiology Department in Hokkaido University Hospital (author's transl)].

Thirty year's history of the Radiology Department of the Medical School of Hokkaido University, the first department of its kind in Hokkaido, is shortly reviewed. Statistics include the number of staff, equipment and patients diagnosed or/and treated in the department. Sections have been formed in the department since several years ago and are functioning to a certain extent independently in order to keep pace with the development of modern medicine and to meet the needs of our hospital. These sections are mainly radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, neuroradiology, X-ray diagnosis in angiology and for the digestive tract. Diagnosis based upon ultrasonography and CT are also becoming recognized sections in the department recently. Further more data processing and statistics seem to grow to become a section in the near future. In conclusion the number of staff, equipment and patients has been and perhaps will be growing increasingly fast. The increasing number of sections which resulted from the establishment of new specialities makes us to anticipate the new and independent departments in addition to the existing one.

Clinical application of Ga-67 DFO-DAS-fibrinogen.

Scintigraphy with 67Ga-DFO-DAS-fibrinogen (67Ga-fibrinogen) was performed for the positive delineation of thrombi in patients with suspected venous or arterial thrombus formation. Five out of 17 patients showed 67Ga-fibrinogen accumulation corresponding to thrombus formation, as confirmed by other examination including radionuclide venography, contrast angiography, and CT scan. There was some difference in 67Ga-fibrinogen uptake between venous and arterial thrombi. With arterial thrombi, 67Ga-fibrinogen uptake was observed over one year after the appearance of clinical symptoms of dissecting aneurysm and arteriosclerosis obliterans. However, with venous thrombi, 67Ga-fibrinogen uptake occurred less than three weeks after the onset of venous edema. These results may indicate different mechanisms of thrombus organization between venous and arterial thrombi. Further, the thrombi age seems to be an important factor in analyzing the diagnostic accuracy of radioagents used for thrombus scintigraphy.
