One hundred thirty-eight fine needle aspirations (FNA) of neck masses were performed during a four-year period (1979-1982). The pre-existing literature was reviewed. An accuracy rate of 85% in FNA of neck masses was found, and a 100% accuracy rate in cases of benign tumors of the neck and developmental cysts of the neck was found.

A case of osteogenic sarcoma of the temporal bone is reported. Most probably the sarcoma was induced by previous irradiation. The patient was treated by a wide temporal bone resection, but the tumour recurred three months after operation. The possibility of late-induced osteosarcoma of the temporal bone must be kept in mind when planning the irradiation of tumours of the nasopharynx.

Drooling is a distressing symptom. It is usually found in children suffering from cerebral palsy, but may also be encountered in healthy children. There are different known surgical methods to stop drooling. We think that the most adequate method to stop drooling in healthy children is the transposition of Wharton's duct to the floor of the mouth, behind the posterior pillar of the tonsil. In our department, 7 healthy children suffering from drooling underwent this operation with good results. The surgical procedure is fully described and the literature on the subject is reviewed.
The development of a plasmacytoma in the vicinity of a long residing metallic foreign body in the nasal cavity is presented. In spite of the multitude of reports concerning neoplasma associated with trauma, most of which arise in chronic scars, this presentation is very rare. It is speculated that the plasma cell proliferation, occurring nearby the foreign body, roots from an immunologic and granulomatous reaction. This case is discussed in light of the vast data on foreign body tumorigenesis obtained from laboratory animals, and the implications of this data are outlined. Further attention should be drawn to the clinical associations of malignant processes co-existing with long-standing foreign bodies.

Primary lymphomas of the salivary glands are very rare. Approximately fifty possible cases have been reported. Whether primary malignant lymphoma of the parotid gland is extranodular or not, is not yet clear. We describe two cases of primary lymphoma of the parotid gland and review the literature of this condition.
