[Calcanear fractures. Advantages of horizontal tomography in exact diagnosis of the type of injuries (author's transl)].

The usual radiographic projections do not enable to do a complete diagnosis of the pattern of the calcanear fractures. Horizontal tomograms, performed since 1975 by the authors with a complex movement tomographe show the superior surface of the calcaneus. Compared with the sagittal and frontal tomograms, they are absolutely necessary to know the shape of the fractured calcaneus and to precise the anatomical basis of its treatment.

[Bronchiolo alveolar carcinoma. 9 cases (author's transl)].

The authors try to define the criteria for the diagnosis of this unusual variety of bronchio pulmonary adenocarcinoma. They studied only 9 patients, 8 of whom had surgery which allowed to make a correlation between X-ray and morphological findings. The pathologist encountered the usual problems in the diagnosis of a primitive tumor since some metastasis have the same macroscopic and microscopic aspect. The relation between the radiographic image and the anatomical findings is emphasised. From a symptomatic and radiological point of view, the most frequent distinction was between the opaque round intra-pulmonary image and the chronic alveolar opacity. Other radiological types occurrence less frequently, such as the nodular or the hollowed type. The authors emphasize the pronostic importance of distinguishing the localized form, with a generally good prognosis following surgery, form the diffused form, which have a very poor prognosis. Even under the best of conditions, a radiological study must be supported by both surgery and pathology to be sure that the tumor in question is, in fact, strictly localized. The histogenesis of bronchio-alveolar carcinoma is briefly discussed in a study of histology and pathology.

[Chronic unilateral obstruction to pulmonary venous return. A study on 6 cases and review of the published literature (author's transl)].

The authors describe 6 cases of unilateral obstruction to pulmonary venous return: two cases of Halasz syndrome and postoperative obstruction of the reimplanted collector vein, one patient with Halasz syndrome and spontaneous obstruction of the vein in the form of a scimitar, one case of neoplastic invasion of the atrium-vein junction, one with unilateral absence of the right intra- and extraparenchymatous regions of the pulmonary veins, and lastly, a case of juxta-auricular interruption in the right pulmonary veins. The anatomy and physiopathology of the collateral venous pathways are briefly described, together with the relations between systemic arterial hypervascularization and pulmonary venous obstruction. The authors then review the radiological, clinical, and angiohemodynamic features of the unilateral venous obstruction syndrome, and conclude that precise diagnosis of venous occlusion, its location, and its tolerance are essential for deciding the therapeutic measures required.

[Anatomical aspects of the elements of interpretation of lateral chest radiographs of adults].

Anatomo-radiological study of the thorax based on 110 lateral chest radiographs and 11 necropsies of normal adults. The authors show the interest of this lateral projection which has been too long considered as a simple contribution to the anterior-posterior projection. This incidence exhibits many anatomical details, which could not be seen on any other standard incidence.

[Respiratory function in chronic obstructions of the large pulmonary arteries (study of 30 cases].

If diagnosis of chronic thromboses of pulmonary arteries is usually easy at the stage of confirmed chronic pulmonary heart, it is not so when dysponea is the only symptom of the disease. The authors report 30 cases of chronic thrombosis and remark that if respiratory alkalosis is very frequent, hipoxemia is often missing. On the other hand they observe 27 times out of 28 an increase of CO2 alveoloarterial difference; measuring the CO2 difference appears a safe and reliable test for detecting chronic thrombosis. It should take place in every systematic complete examination of unexplained dyspnoea.

[Radiological study of LSD-25 effects on the amphibian Pleurodeles waltlii Michah. Comparison between controls and subjects issued from males treated with LSD-25].

LSD treated males were mated with untreated females and their progeny examined by S-R. The incidence of morphological anomalies in the offsprings of control animals appears to be important but is doubled in the progeny of LSD treated males. Our observations are limited to the limbs, the vertebrae, the ribs and the pelvic girdle.
