Theoretical statements concerning the calculation of the K-value and explanations of the practical approach in the estimation of the K-value are the initial position. It is proved that it is not possible after a standardized glucose supply to establish by means of the K-value a true gradation of the glucose assimilation, which is independent on the population and lies on an absolute proportion scale, of any test persons on various conditions. Up to now this fact is not taken into consideration when the K-value is used and judged for the characterization of the glucose assimilation and leads to weighty errors in the kinetic evaluation of the measuring data. Since both the height of the fasting blood glucose and the speed of the glucose elimination are included as diagnostic separation criteria in the K-value, it is, on the other hand, well suited for the delimitation of latent, asymptomatic and manifest diabetics from persons with healthy metabolism.

Routine echographical neonatal diagnosis of congenital dislocation of the hip is today a good method of treatment of this pathology: early diagnosis, infarct, allows treatment in early years with complete healing as shown by long term follow-up. 596 newborns have met with echographic hip screening: the method has shown good result and the study has led us to realize an anamnestical schema pointed on the familiarity which is one of the pathognomic matters of this pathology.

Diagnostic imaging modalities play a key role in the definition of the possible causes of constipation. Barium Enema (BE), Defecography (DG), Intestinal Transit Time (ITT), Computed Axial Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) are necessary diagnostic tools for the identification either of the possible organic causes of the disease or of the functional disorders. The ITT evaluation is the main investigation to look for functional colic constipation; this method is in fact able to distinguish between the hypertonic type (in which the fecal progression is slowed down to such an extent that radiopaque markers accumulate in the most proximal part of the colon) and the atonic one (characterized by a global slowing down with the markers distributed along the whole colon). DG gives very accurate dynamic documentation of the pathologic alteration of the rectum-anal conduit, as well as of the disease of the supporting and anchoring system and of the levator complex; this type of investigation allows the definition (characterisation) of the different types of the functional rectum-anal constipation. Even in this case TAC and RM can greatly contribute to the definition of the whole picture of the constipation.
Thirty consecutive patients with stage IIIB-IV non small cell lung cancer were treated with a combination of cisplatin 80 mg/m2 on day 1 plus vinorelbine 25-30 mg/m2 on days 1, 8. This cycle was repeated every 3 weeks. The overall response rate was 46%, with 1 patient showing a complete response and 13 patients (43%) a partial response with a mean duration of 8.4+ months. Six patients had a stabilization and 10 progressed. The main toxicities were represented by myelosuppression and nausea/vomiting. Grade 3 leukopenia was seen in 33% of cases, grade 2 thrombocytopenia in 12%, and phlebitis in the injection vein in 16%. Mild constipation was also recorded. The combination of cisplatin plus vinorelbine is quite effective in advanced non small cell carcinoma of the lung, and may be safely given on an outpatient basis.

A case of Graves' disease in a 2 years child old is reported. He presented tachycardia, loss of weight, anxiety and gait abnormality. The serum free T3 and T4 and thyrotropin receptor antibodies values were elevated, TSH was not measurable. The EMG was abnormal with short duration motor unit potentials.
