A retrospective analysis of image morphology in 40 patients with histologically proved hepatocellular carcinoma including two cases of fibrolamellar carcinoma is presented. Ultrasound and CT scan were done in all the patients. Angiogram was done in 15 of these patients to provide a surgical roadmap before hepatic resection. Detailed analysis of clinical features, biochemical parameters and image morphology is presented.
There have been important recent advances in our understanding of the relationship between eosinophilic airway inflammation and airway dysfunction. Observational studies have shown that eosinophilic airway inflammation is not always present in asthma nor is it an exclusive feature of asthma. Its presence seems to be more closely linked to the presence of corticosteroid responsive airways disease and the occurrence of severe exacerbations than the presence of symptoms or the extent of airway dysfunction--indeed recent evidence suggests that in asthma these features may be more closely linked to the site of localisation of mast cells in the airway wall. One implication of this new understanding of the significance of eosinophilic airway inflammation is that it predicts that measuring airway inflammation might provide information that it is not readily available from a more traditional clinical assessment, and that patients might do better if this information is available. Recent studies support this view, showing a marked reduction in asthma exacerbation in patients with moderate to severe disease who are managed with reference to markers of airway inflammation as well as symptoms and simple tests of airway function. The development of new agents that have the potential to modulate specific aspects of airway inflammation, together with refinements in non-invasive techniques to assess the efficacy of these agents offers the prospect of further refining our understanding of the role of this aspect of the inflammatory response in asthma and other airway diseases.
A case of blow out fracture of the medial wall and floor of the orbit with herniation of the eyeball into the ethmoid sinus diagnosed on CT scan is reported. To the best of our knowledge there is no previous report of prolapse of eyeball into the ethmoid sinus.

Osteomedullography was performed in 17 diaphyseal fractures of the tibia at ten to 12 weeks from injury to assess the reliability and sensitivity of the procedure in predicting non-union. It was found to be accurate in more than 80% of cases in predicting the ultimate outcome early in the course of fracture healing.

This article draws upon a subsample of adoptive placements of adolescents (mean age 13.9 years in 1988) derived from a larger survey of older-child adoptions in 13 countries of northern and central California. The articles offers a mine of information to enrich the field's as-yet sparse research of a part of the work in adoption that is growing in attention as the number of adolescents in foster care increases.
Eighty patients with primary carcinoma of the gallbladder were studied by ultrasonography. Two broad groups were defined. In group I (72.5%), the gallbladder lumen was identified along with a mass lesion, and in group II (27.5%), a large mass totally replacing the gallbladder was seen. Group I was further categorized into three subtypes according to the morphology of the lesion: type 1--a mass almost filling the lumen; type 2--a polypoidal mass projecting into the lumen; and type 3--an infiltrating mass. Associated findings of infiltration of the liver, presence of calculi, biliary tree obstruction, liver metastasis, and lymphadenopathy further supported the diagnosis. Ultrasonography was found to be highly reliable in the diagnosis of carcinoma of the gallbladder. In addition, it provided guidance for biopsy/aspiration of nonpalpable tumors. Its shortcomings appear to be its inability to assess peritoneal and bowel involvement, as well as that of the omentum and posterior rectus sheath.

According to recent evidence, adoptive placements that do not work out are increasingly common. This article reviews research on rates of, and contributors to, adoption and "foster-adoption" disruptions and dissolutions. Implications for practice are included.

The authors studied eleven cases of Fibrosing Adenosis of the breast. If the clinical findings and radiologic examination evoke this diagnosis only a histological proof is sure. The difficulties in histological diagnosis, the problems of the histogenesis of fibrosing adenosis are emphasized. The authors recall the excellent prognosis of fibrosing adenosis.
Two young patients with two coexisting primary malignancy are described. Both of them had colonic carcinoma. In addition, one had pancreatic carcinoma and the other duodenal carcinoma.
