[Histocytochemical features of immunopathologic changes in inflammation of the lungs].

The authors present the results of a comparative cytochemical study of the phagocytes' and lymphocytes' lysosomal membranes state in the rabbit blood, trachea and lungs in immunization with sorbed staphylococcus toxoid and human serum albumin in experimental pneumonia and in this disease against the background of immunization. It was shown that the changes resulting from immunization (the phagocytes' and lymphocytes' lysosomal membranes systemic destabilization, microcirculatory disorders, and cell infiltration in the lungs) were premorbid to pneumonia and intensified the inflammation. The authors considered these changes to be structural and functional signs of the immunopathological reactions accompanying pneumonia.

[Changes in the peripheral blood lymphocytes after immunization and its effect on the course of experimental inflammatory process in the lungs].

It was shown that in the immunization of rabbits with sorbed staphylococcus toxoid and human albumin, at the height of the immune response there occurred an intensification of biosynthesis and destabilization of lysosomal membranes of blood leukocytes, with a simultaneous development of microcirculation disturbances in the lungs. Development of pneumonia against the background of immunization led to a greater destabilization of the lysosomic membranes of leukocytes and to the intensification in the lungs of infiltrative and destructive processes, in comparison with the course of inflammation in the nonimmunized animals. Peculiarities of the antigens used caused some specificity in the course of pneumonia. A relationship between the changes of blood leukocytes and disturbances in the lungs in immunization is supposed.

[Change in the state of surfactant in experimental pneumonia].

The state of pulmonary surfactant in rabbits at different periods (3 to 60 days) of experimental pneumonia was compared with the changes of the redox enzymes in the alveolar epithelium and the cells of the inflammatory infiltrate. At the initial stage (3 to 7 days) of the cellular metabolism activation there occurred a transitory intensification of the synthesis of surfactant lipids with a relative suppression of phospholipid synthesis. Later the progress of dystrophic processes and parenchymal sclerosis was accompanied by reduction of the synthesis of all the surfactant components. Surfactant surface activity became stable at a low level. This is possibly connected with the specific regulation of the surfactant synthesis determined by functional peculiarities of the organ.

[Changes in phagocytizing and lymphoid elements in obstructive pneumonia].

A comparative cytochemical study of the state of phagocytizing and lymphoid elements was carried out during the action on them of a foreign body, under septic and aseptic conditions. Local and systemic changes of the phagocytozing and lymphoid elements ratio, permeability disturbances of the lysosomal membranes in them, an increase in destroyed macrophage, neutrophil, and lymphocyte count, serving as one of the main mechanisms of the developing inflammatory-destructive processes, were regard as indices of cell regression.

[The theoretical and practical questions of the physiological prevention of inflammatory lung diseases].

The paper covers the results of experimental and clinical evaluation of preventive potential of some drugs and physical factors against acute and chronic inflammation in the lungs. Standard general and local reactions related to prophylaxis are specified with consideration of underlying mechanisms. Comparative preventive potentialities of the techniques and prospects of their effectiveness prediction are discussed.
