[Rare association--luetic interstitial keratitis and sarcoidosis granulomatous uveitis. Case report].

The goal of this article is to present a clinical case, being particular by the existence of keratitis at a patient who was diagnosed after histological exam of the ocular contents with sarcoidosis granulomatous uveitis. We try to review some aspects characteristic to sarcoidosis, disease which returns in our attention due to the high frequency of uveitis and that's why it deserves a special place in etiology of uveitis.

[Orbital mesenchymal tumors--orbital fibrous histiocytoma. Their clinical and histopathological aspects].

Histiocytoma is a tumor with mesenchymal etiology, whose primary orbital form is very rare. (1) Although it is a benign tumor, there have been written--in a few cases--it's metastatic forms too. This article describes the case of a female patient with this tumor which had been extirpated successfully and without any recurrences till now. The disease had been appeared with a chronic sphenoidal and maxillary sinusitis. At the same time there are described the latest concepts about these tumors' etiology, classification and their treatment.

[Difficulties in the treatment of secondary cataracts with the YAG-Nd laser].

The paper presents a clinical study performed about 402 patients with secondary cataract treated between 1989-1994 with YAG-Nd Laser capsulotomy in the University Eye Hospital from Tg. Mureş. We described the technique used, taking into consideration the recovery obtained, the early and belated complications and the secondary effects.

[Congenital glaucoma and trabeculectomy].

The authors presents 27 cases (48 eyes) with congenital glaucoma operated with trabeculectomy. We used 3 different procedures of trabeculectomy: suture of the scleral flap in two points; by placing a silicon membrane under the scleral flap; tightly close of the scleral flap with five sutures. We concluded that the last of the procedures gave us the best results, especially when was used in the incipient stage of the disease. From this study results that the mechanism of action of trabeculectomy is more an opening of a physiological way of drainage then a filtration to the subconjunctival space.

[Quantitative trabeculectomy].

The outcomes of the trabeculectomy which finally establish one normal ocular pressure are presented. The surgery method is adjustment of the thickness of the sclera, fragment depending on the initial ocular pressure. The evacuation of the aqueous humor after trabeculectomy is indirect proportionally with the thickness of the scleral fragment. The method was used in 36 eyes with different patterns of glaucoma. At this patients the initial ocular pressure was until 50 mm Hg. In 72.2% from cases was necessary only one surgery intervention for maintain the ocular pressure, without auxiliary drugs; two eyes underwent still one surgical intervention and in seven eyes was necessary auxiliary hypotensor drugs. The outcomes were good in 97.2% from cases. One failure was obtained in one eye with closed angle glaucoma where the trabeculectomy was complicated with malignant glaucoma. Complications were hypema, atalamy with or without choroidal detachment and high ocular pressure. All complications were improved after conservative treatment excepting the case with malignant glaucoma.

[The importance of the early diagnosis of primary persistent hyperplastic vitreous].

The early diagnosis of PHPV is often difficult to be established, because of the frequent opacification of the ocular transparent media. So the echography and the computerized tomography, the early surgical intervention using up-to-date techniques in vitreous surgery is imposed, in order to maintain functionally or anatomically the affected globe.

[Cystic-structure echographic imaging in retinal detachment].

The B-type echographic exam in retinal detachment shows in the most accurate way the detached retina. In the total detachments the aspect reproduced the V-image, because in the perpendicular section, the retinal folds join at the papilla. By the rotation of the transducer, when the oblique echographic section get close to the perpendicular section, it may be moved on the monitor like two heterogeneous planes or like a chistic echographic image in the vitreous. This show the importance of the chistic echographic image in the differential diagnosis of the retinal detachment.

[The criteria for echographic diagnosis in retinoblastoma].

The paper present an echographic survey on 27 pathological eyes suspected to present retinoblastoma, investigated with the same devices and by the same investigator. The diagnosis of retinoblastoma has been echographically put on 13 eyes. We haven't noticed any error on the investigated set since the diagnosis was histopathologically confirmed on 11 eyes. 2 eyes were not enucleated because they had before the enucleation of the contralateral ocular globe. It is discussed the utility of the echographic investigation for the positive and differential diagnosis of the retinoblastoma.
