Extending the midwives' role in perineal management.
More than 70% of women in the western hemisphere undergo perineal suturing following childbirth. But there is no audit system developed to monitor subsequent healing. At London's Whittington Hospital Trust it was decided that midwives should be enabled to follow up their perineal management.
