[Anatomical variants of the rabbit thymus shape in the prenatal and postnatal ontogenesis].

Anatomical variants of three-dimensional shape of rabbit thymus were studied by method of plastic reconstruction. 11 age groups were used (94 animals in total). Individual and age variants of three-dimensional shape of thymus and its lobes, areas and character of their conjugation, spatial orientation and participant of different regions of the lobes in formation of the general level, lateral margin and cardiac notch were described. Dolychomorphic, mesomorphic and brachiomorphic variants of thymus shape were distinguished in rabbit. Significant participant of right lobe in formation of cardiac inlet was demonstrated.

[Spatial orientation of sinuses of the popliteal lymph node in the rabbit].

Two structural and functional portions were identified in popliteal lymph node of the mature rabbit. The one of them that occupies the lymph node anterior margin is an entry site of lymph predominantly from deep tissues of leg and foot, while the other one collects lymph mostly from surface structures of leg and foot and occupies superior and inferior poles and posterior margin of lymph node. It was established that spatial orientation of sinuses was determined by structural and functional portion they belong to. Medullar intermediate sinuses of the lymph node part I were demonstrated to be more strictly oriented as compared to that of portion II.

[The clinical characteristics of 2 outbreaks of trichinelliasis].

In 1988-1989 two outbreaks of trichinosis were recorded. The first case was group disease developed in 3 members of the family. The source of infection was rissoles rolled in cabbage leaves [correction of goloubets] stuffed with minced pork. The second outbreak affected 13 persons who had eaten home-made pork sausage and fat. All the patients displayed fever, weakness, muscular pain, subcutaneous fat edema, predominantly of the face. The patients suffered from dry mouth, thirst, deteriorated appetite, exanthema, eosinophilia, more occasionally, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Trichinosis was confirmed serologically. Vermox therapy (300 mg per day) was performed for 7 to 12 days. The disease was severe, moderate and mild in 5, 7 and 4 patients, respectively. A brief abstract from a case record of a patient with severe trichinosis complicated by allergic myocarditis is presented. The severity of the disease was associated with the infecting dose and the time at which etiotropic therapy was started. Vermox had a good therapeutic effect and caused no adverse events.
