[Generic screening for breast cancer].

Following the cloning of BRCA1 and BRCA2 it has been suggested that genetic screening may be of benefit for women at high familial risk. To be able to assess whether this is the case more research is needed on the penetrance of the different mutations, their prevalence in the population, the biological and environmental factors affecting the development of cancer in mutation carriers and the natural history of genetically determined breast cancer. Furthermore, studies on the efficacy of preventive measures, on counselling and on psychological effects of testing are also needed.

[Experimental studies of the specificity and aspecificity of a beta-adrenolytic agent, bunitrolol (Kö 1366)].

In basis of our experimental researches bunitrolol presented: a) beta-adrenolytic activity prevailingly at cardiac level (superior to propranolol and practolol) in respect to vascular, tracheal, bronchial, uterus, intestinal and metabolic level; b) beta-adrenergic intrinsic activity; c) local anesthetic activity; d) chinidino-like activity; e) antiarrhythmic activity; f) hypotensive activity with interferences at the level of vasomotor centres, of the barosensitive zones, of the renin secretion and of the purinergic periphery.

[Genetic control of spontaneous resistance to murine adenocarcinoma (ADK-lt)].

The genetic control of spontaneous resistance by virgin mice towards a mammary adenocarcinoma of BALB/c mice origin was studied in F1 hybrid mice produced by crossing BALB/c females with males of different haplotype from BALB, A, or B10 strain. The findings obtained show that the intensity of natural resistance in vivo is not under an unigenic control but is the result of multiple interactions among genes located both inside or outside the major histocompatibility complex.

[Experimental assessment of some pharmacodynamic features of ketoprofen lysine. Pain relief activity, antipyretic effects, anti-inflammatory activity, anti-platelet aggregation activity and interference with the biosynthesis of prostaglandins].

An experimental assessment was made of the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and platelet anticlumping activity of ketoprophene lysine, and its effect on body temperature and prostaglandin synthesis. The drug's pharmacodynamics was very similar to that of ketoprophene and its gastric tolerance was better. It was also well tolerated by the dog joint surfaces and cardiovascular apparatus when given i.m. or i.v., even at doses higher than those advised for man, or when infiltrated in ketoreceptor areas.

[Experimental toxicological and pharmacodynamic studies of a triple drug association (adrenaline, atropine and papaverine) with anti-bronchospastic activity].

The antibronchospastic value of the triple association adrenaline (1) + atropine (0,3) + papaverine (3) has been documented experimentally. Comparative investigations have been carried out with isoprenaline, metaproterenol, terbutaline and salbutamol. Toxicological and pharmacodynamic studies were done in the cardiovascular system and in vitro on certain muscles.

[Pharmacokinetics of 1-(4'-oxyphenyl)-2-(3'-phenyl-thiopropyl-amino) propane-1-01 hydrochloride (Istiod) in the rat].

The pharmacokinetics (serum, urinary and biliary concentrations) of Isotiod have been studied in rats. Doses exploited the property of the molecule in an alkaline medium with a diazonium salt to form coloured azo compounds. In rats Isotiod determines blood concentrations whose intensity and duration are proportional to the dose and route of administration; notable quantities of the drug are eliminated by the urinary way and a small quantity by the bile way with a personal technique.
