[Prejudice in performance evaluation of so-called elderly co-workers by supervisors].

This empirical interview study analyses the opinions of supervisors in an industrial company about their so-called elderly co-workers. These opinions are insofar relevant to the co-workers, as it is the direct supervisor who decides on the consequences of the real or supposed reduction in performance. The analysis shows that the beginning of a reduction in performance is set at the age of about 45-50 years. These and other opinions are dependent on various personal and situational factors as could be shown by means of a tree analysis.

[Analysis of cognitive strategies of identity assertion in residents of a geriatric hospital using G.A. Kelly's REP-test].

During the analysis of possibilities of identity-assertion for inhabitants of a clinic for the aged the REP-Test proved as far as the provided structural analysis rendered the possibility of a classification of different cognitive strategies which could be interpreted with regard to the content by the constructs. For an exact understanding of the interaction-situation with the employees the judgements of the employees were absolutely necessary. Referring to the content a high rate of individual strategies to cope with the employee's role-expectations and to keep cognitive distance could be found. The presumed "patient-role", which would restrict individuality and identity, could only be registered as an exceptional case, which was not regarded as a positive one by the employees, too.
