The incidence of podagric nephropathy in different age groups was studied on a large populational material (41,452 persons over 30 years). The number of patients suffering from podagra was shown to increase with each decade of life. In 122 patients with podagric nephropathy, deviations in urinalyses were recorded in 80 cases (65.5%). Of these, 53 patients (72.6%) were ot 60 years of age and older. In patients over 60, derangement of nitrogen-excretory renal function was seen more frequently (in 64.4%) than in other age groups. The greater incidence of podagra and podagric nephropathy over the recent decade may be related not to the changes in the nutrition pattern and hypodynamia but also, and possibly to a larger measure, with deterioration of the environmental conditions and alterations in radiation background.
Overall 38 patients suffering from exogenous allergic alveolitis of tobacco growers including 28 with alveolitis running its course by the type of bronchitis, 8 with alveolitis which ran its course by the type of bronchial asthma, and 6 with alveolitis running its course by the type of recurrent pneumonia were examined. In all the three variants of alveolitis, the obstructive syndrome associated with pulmonary hyperinflation was predominant in the picture of the functional parameters. Marked restriction of the lungs was recorded in rare cases, the decrease of the diffusion lung capacity was mainly detected by the steady state method. Arterial hypoxemia was detectable at rest and during physical exercise. Distributive disorders turned out to be the main cause of hypoxemia.
Morphologically, 4 eyes of patients after intraocular lens implantation as well as their case histories have been studied. The eyes were taken at pathologoanatomic autopsy of the dead (within 7 days--3.5 years after surgery). The following possible causes of postoperative complications are revealed: formation of adhesions, secondary cataract, changes in the anterior chamber, angle, a sluggish course of uveoretinitis, this leading to a fall of visual acuity.
