[Use of insoles made of antimicrobial materials as prophylactic means in foot mycoses].

Stationary dermatologic examination covered 32 sufferers from epidermophytosis of soles, who used 3 types of antimicrobial insoles chosen through laboratory investigations. Clinical trials proved that antimicrobial insoles, if applied during 2 weeks, result in considerably decreased occurrence of causal fungus in the patients' surface skin scarring. The results proved fungicidal and bactericidal activity of insoles including furagin, nitrofurilacroleine, polyhexamethylene guanidine, so such insoles could be recommended as prophylactic measure for mycoses of soles.

[Clinico-neurological and encephalographic aspects of toxicosis in late pregnancy].

Clinico-neurologic and electroencephalographic (EEG) examinations of 149 women suffering from late gestosis, carried out during pregnancy and after labor, have revealed various neurologic syndromes (vegetovascular dystonia, narcoleptic and neuroendocrine syndromes, pyramidal insufficiency syndrome) in all of them; these syndromes correlated with the severity of late gestosis and EEG changes. The detected changes indicated the presence of the hypothalamic syndrome in women suffering from late gestosis, this syndrome being more marked in grave forms of gestosis. The detected neurologic symptoms and EEG changes persisted long after delivery (up to 7 years). The authors emphasize the necessity of timely adequate therapy of women suffering from gestosis, that should include tranquilizers, anticonvulsants, vasoactive and nootropic drugs.

[The characteristics of the action of ethacizine and its combination with digoxin and glutamic acid on the hemodynamic indices and myocardial contractile capacity in patients with a heart rhythm disorder].

A study was made of the effect of ethacizine administered in a single dose and continuously on myocardial contractility and hemodynamics in 78 patients with coronary heart disease, neurocirculatory dystonia and myocardiodystrophy suffering from impaired cardiac rhythm. In 28 patients, ethacizine was administered in combination with glutamic acid and in 23 with digoxin. In patients with coronary heart disease, particularly in those with heart failure, ethacizine produced a negative inotropic effect. Introduction into the treatment of digoxin or glutamic acid smoothed over the cardiodepressive action of the drug. When administered continuously in a dose of 150-300 mg/day, ethacizine is an effective antiarrhythmic drug.

[Neurologic syndromes in craniovertebral dysplasias].

Sixty-two craniovertebral dysplasy patients could be divided into three groups with respect to neurologic syndromes displaying disorders at different levels in a neurologic and X-rays investigation. The authors stress the diagnostic importance of a purposeful X-ray investigation of craniovertebral area in cases of neurologic symptoms and external signs of dysplasy, and the value of timely diagnosis for prevention of neurologic complications.

[Variants of the pathogenetic therapy of myasthenia gravis].

On the basis of neurological and electrophysiological examination of 43 patients with myasthenia as well as scintigraphy of the thymus in them, the authors consider variants of differentiated, pathogenetic, and correcting therapy of this disease.

[Characteristics of oxygen balance and acid-base equilibrium of the blood in patients with hereditary erythrocytosis].

Blood oxygen balance and acid-base equilibrium were studied in 22 Chuvash patients with hereditary erythrocytosis. Despite the lack of the anomalous types of hemoglobin in the given type of erythrocytosis a number of the patients showed secondary tissue hypoxia associated with hyperoxia of the peripheral venous blood. It is shown that tissues are capable of extracting oxygen from the blood. It is assumed that the development of tissue hypoxia in the patients is determined by a fall in the rate of oxygen diffussion from the capillaries to the tissues or by blood shunting via the arteriolo-venular anastomoses because of microcirculatory disorders. The lowering of hematocrit to the level close to normal with the aid of bloodlettings makes oxygen balance return to normal and reduces tissue hypoxia.

[Criteria for severity and prognosis of the course of myasthenia].

On the basis of clinical, radiological, electromyographical and histochemical examinations the authors describe criteria of the severity and prognosis of myasthenia and show their significance in the selection of an adequate pathogenetically-substantiated therapy.

[Early diagnosis and differentiation of Charcot-Marie neural atrophy].

On the basis of examination of 112 patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth's neural amyotrophy, the differentiation between the classical form and atypical variants of the disease is carried out. The authors describe the diagnostic tests of the early diagnosis of the disease with the use of electromyographic, thermographic and histochemical methods of examination.
