[The comparative action of relanium and oxytocin on higher nervous activity in lower monkeys].

Effects of relanium and oxytocin on higher nervous activity was studied in four rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) and two baboons (Papio hamadryas). During observation of the animals in enclosure tranquilizing effect was seen only after relanium administration. Under the same conditions oxytocin practically did not change the general behaviour pattern of monkeys. However, steady behavioural transformations were observed under the conditions of competitive food-procuring behaviour and during the operant goal-directed reaction. Decreasing aggressiveness of dominants oxytocin in contrast to relanium had no negative effect upon their general motor activity and sensory perception. Differences in effects of the tranquilizer and the peptide were seen also at the unit activity level of the neurons. The first drug lowered the unit activity level and the degree of the functional connections in neuronal populations in a number of cortical structures. Administration of the second one led to selective shifts of the unit activity mainly in the frontal cortex of the monkeys.

[A comparative evaluation of the changes in the duration of "hexenal sleep" in acute radiation and combined radiation-thermal lesions].

In experiments with Wistar rats it was found that the increase in the length of the "hexenal dream" during the first week after the effect of a mixture of radiation and heat is much more pronounced than that observed after exposure to radiation alone and independent of the severity of a radiation component (gamma radiation, 4, 6 and 7.5 Gy). The peculiarities revealed in the hypnotic effect of hexenal develop against the background of the postirradiation aggravation of hypoalbuminemia and decrease in the liver ATP.

[Toxicity and narcotic effect of sodium oxybutyrate and ketalar at different periods of combined radiation lesion, burn injury and irradiation exposure].

It has been shown that there are differences in the action of sodium hydroxybutyrate and ketamine depending on the stage and type of exposure. Alterations in the duration of anesthesia within the first four days after ionizing radiation are directly opposite to those seen under the conditions of the combined radiation-thermal injury (CRTI) and isolated burn trauma. The anesthetic action of ketamine is potentiated under the conditions of CRTI and remains unchanged under isolated exposures, whereas the toxicity, on the contrary, increases on the 30th day after burn and irradiation.

[Role of the caudate nucleus head in delayed spatial preference and differentiation of trace reflexes in Macaca mulatta].

Using phase-correlation analysis, electrical stimulation and pharmacological treatment (Benactyzine), changes in functional importance of the head of n. caudatus have been observed which were related to regulation needs for the delayed spatial preference and differentiation of temporal reflexes. Structural elements of any morpho-functional system are not determined constantly by one and the same functional importance. They may change their functional quality with respect to changes in experimental situation.

[Interaction between the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of monkeys in delayed spatial choice].

Interaction between bioelectrical processes in the prefrontal cortex and the hippocampus was investigated on three Macaca mulatta performing a task of delayed spatial choice. It was found that the processes of short-term spatial memory are reflected in certain patterns of reciprocal correlations between EEG of the given structures. Different patterns correspond to tasks of different nature. The data obtained corroborate the hypothesis that the functional significance of brain structures may change instantaneously in the course of mnestic activity, depending on regulation requirements.

[Participation of the hippocampus in delayed spatial choice and discrimination of time intervals in rhesus macaques].

Participation of the hippocampus in morpho-functional systems of delayed spatial choice and differentiation of trace reflexes to time was shown in 2 macaco rhesus by the method of phase-correlational analysis. Application of 0.05 per cent solution of amysyl into the hippocampus disturbed the behaviour of monkeys, probably, as a result of desintegration of entire morpho-functional system regulating spatial-temporal sequence of nervous processes of delayed behavioural act.

[Dynamics of functional interrelationships between different monkey brain structures during differentiation of time intervals].

Interactions between the prefrontal cortex, the hippocampus, caudate nucleus head and mediodorsal thalamic nucleus were studied during differentiation of temporal intervals in two rhesus monkeys by means of correlational analysis. The change in the signal significance of the experimental situation (time course of the investigated period) changed the animals activity. This was manifested in spatial-temporal dynamics of correlation coefficients. The participation of separate brain structures or their complexes in the differentiation of temporal intervals is discussed.

[The effect of neuropeptides on the processes of higher nervous activity in primates. The action of cyclic analogs of enkephalins on the behavior of lower monkeys].

The influence of 2 cyclic enkephaline analogues (IVS-43 and IVS-46) on group and individual behaviour of rhesus and baboon monkeys was studied. The effect of IVS-46 on competitive and operant goal-directed behaviour of the monkeys was expressed. Possible mechanisms of functional reorganization of the higher nervous activity of primates under the influence of neuropeptides are discussed.
