[Instrumental correction of valgo-varus and torsion deformities of the proximal segment of the femur in children].

Apparatus correction of deformations of proximal segment of femur becomes one of the most effective method of treatment of hip joint diseases in children. The authors propose new arrangements of Ilizarov's apparatus to treat the most common diseases of locomotor apparatus: thigh subluxation, aseptic necrosis of the head of femur and coxa vara. The tactics of Ilizarov's apparatus application, its arrangements and indications for its utilization are based on the results of treatment of 40 patients with the above-mentioned diseases. There are presented the apparatus application outlines and clinical examples of the treatment methods realization.

[Correction of the position of the limbus in open reduction of congenital hip dislocation in children].

On the basis of their clinical experience in the treatment of 146 patients with congenital dislocation of the hip the authors have evaluated the state of the limb in this pathologic condition. Various changes in the limb's form have been observed depending on the expression of the hip dislocation and on the patient's age. The instruments for incisions and for correcting the limb's position have been worked out. The fixation of the limb in the functionally correct position is carried out by stitching its fragments and fixing the strained threads in the greater trochanter area. The correction of the limb's position allows the subsequent correct development of the acetabular roof.

[Elimination of pathologic torsion of the crural bones during treatment of various severe foot deformities in children].

The author has studied the mechanism of the torsion development of shin bones in normality. The disturbance of the mechanism as an extensive external torsion of shin bones is established in 127 patients with neglected congenital talipes and as an internal twist in critical forms of plano-valgoid deformity of feet in 16 patients. The significance of the two kinds of the torsion pathology of shin bones in the treatment of such feet deformities is substantiated. An original author's method of treatment with an original apparatus is described.
