[Female genital tuberculosis].

As one of the forms of extrapulmonary tuberculoses the genital tuberculosis of the woman is--despite regressing numbers of morbidity and mortality--a disease still existing, which is to be found at every age. The own results of examinations and experiences which could be obtained from 140 female patients with bacteriologically and histologically ascertained diagnosis are included into the actual survey of the clinic of the genital tuberculosis from the gynaecologists and obstetrician's point of view. These results, too, emphasize the necessity of a complex diagnosis, therapy and aftercare of the female genital tuberculosis, which together with the vast prophylactic tasks may only be coped with by a rational cooperation in the interdisciplinary scale.

[Urinary tract infections in surgical gynecology with special reference to the urine withdrawal technic].

In a direct comparison series between 400 midstream urinesamples and 400 suprapubic aspiration specimens, but as well in an indirect comparison series of the same number of catheter urine-samples, bacteriological examinations were executed by means of the culture method before and after gynaecological operations. 19,5% of the suprapubic aspirates, 20,5% of the catheter specimens, and 25,5% of the midstreamsamples showed a significant bacteriuria. The number of false positive findings was in regard of the midstream urinesamples more than a quarter of the total infection rate. In midstreamsamples, mixed infections were 3,4 times more frequent than in catheter specimens. After a discussion of the results under special consideration of the high number of findings needing control in connection with operative problems, a valuation of the obtaining of urine in the field of operative gynaecology is demonstrated.

[Recommendations for the use of cryotherapy in gynecology].

Bases on the experiences with the application of cryotherapy to 393 patients with 440 cryosurgical operations, special and general experiences concerning the cryotherapy in gynaecology are presented. Accordingly, the cryotherapy is suitable to increase the number of the conventional methods of medical attendance to the vulva, the vagina, and to the cervix uteri. The main possibilities of application are those to the sanitation indications of the portio, to the removal of acute condylomes, and to the pallative as well as to the curative therapy of the vulva carcinomes.

[Cryogenic therapy device for use in gynecology].

A device and its required furnishings for cryosurgery is demonstrated; during 3 years of clinical use, it has proved its worth when attending to benign and malignant diseases of vulva, vagina, and cervix. On the base of open processes, liquid nitrogen serves as cooling agent. Both "spray" and "contact-freezing" may be applied after a short starting period of the device under temperature control. In order to avoid freezings of the tunica vaginalis, tubes of Teflon and Polyurethane foam have been tested successfully.

[Practical significance of umbilical cord complications for the management of delivery].

In the Gynecological Hospital of the Academy Erfut, the deliveries of the year 1973 were analysed prospectively in regard of the frequency of umbilical cord complications and their effects to the fetus. At a frequency of 39.3%--i.e. every 5th delivery--, umbilical cord complications became a menacing factor to the fetus. The clinical symptoms of fetal threat are discussed in regard of their influence and importance to taking controlling obstetrical measures.

[Immunologic studies in relation to cryotherapy of gynecologic diseases].

The interesting nexus of problems related to the behaviour of the T-cell effected immunity situation of patients treated by means of cryosurgery and operations, was commenced by examinations of 118 women in regard of the transformability of lymphocytes. By the help of swab-preparations and especially of the PHA-stimulated lymphocyte transformation test, patients have been controlled in regard of vulva carcinoma, cervix carcinoma, condyloma, kraurosis vulvae and other portio findings being in need for medical attendence. Though the results are not to be regarded without reserve, the cryotherapy seems to improve the T-cell effected immunity situation in some of the patients suffering from vulva carcinoma. Up to now, the controls have also shown that they may reveal prognostic suggestions in certain cases.
