Communication is the key to effective registration.
Although it is much easier said than done, the key to good public relations and good employee relations in the emergency department is communication and training. Registrars have a need to know a great deal of information and the more they know the more effectively they can do their jobs. But it can't stop with registrars. All personnel involved with emergency department patients must have a basic understanding of how the registration and billing process works. This takes much communication in all directions. But if this is successfully carried out, there will be benefits beyond good internal and external relations. The billing and collection process will improve as a result of better information and more informed, satisfied patients.
