[Modified bridle-plasty in recurrent luxation of the patella].

For local operative correction of slipping patella, we recommend a modified plasty of the patellar retinaculum apparatus. This simple operation can even be performed on adolescents with still open epiphyseal cartilages. The technique of our operation is described. The early results during the last 30 months are very good. None of our 20 patients noted a reluxation, and all have resumed their sports.

[Liver tumors and oral contraceptives. Report of a case and review of the liverature].

On laparotomy in a 33-year-old woman presenting with signs of chronic cholecystitis and cholelithiasis, a tumor (diameter 4.5 cm) of the right lobe of the liver was found and resected. It proved to be a hamartoma (focal nodular hyperplasia). At the age of 20 years the patient had been treated by radiation and chemotherapy for stage I Hodgkin's disease. Oral contraceptives had been prescribed for a period of 2 years. In the literature approximately 70 cases of chielfy benign liver tumors have been reported in women taking oral contraceptives. More than one third of these cases came to light because of life-threatening intraabdominal bleeding due to rupture of the tumor. A causative relationship between hepatic tumors and the use of oral contraceptives is suggested. As yet, however, there is no conclusive evidence to support this suggestion.

[Postoperative haemolytic jaundice due to deficiency of G-6-PD (author's transl)].

A case of postoperative haemolytic and cholastatic jaundice after cholecystectomy with no G-6-PD activity is reported. Enflurane is supposed to be the cause in this postoperative jaundice. Considering the fact that Glucose-6-Phosphate-Dehydrogenase deficiency is quite common depending on the patients' origin, this cause must be taken into account and the G-6-PD activity of the erythrocyts should be determined.

[Chondropathy of the patella. Experiences with 100 medializations].

After a brief reference to the biomechanics of the patellofemoral joint, the anamnesis and the clinical and the radiologic symptomatology of chondropathia and the possibilities of its therapy are described. Patellofemoral arthrography is very helpful for the diagnosis. The technique of our operation is also described. After close study of current available literature and careful control of our 100 medialization cases, the results after 6, 12, 24, and 36 months are shown in tabular form. The operation is recommended for primary chondropathia patellae with lateroposition or lateral-tipped patella.

[Secondary replacement reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament using pediculated gracilis tendons from the proximal musculature (Lindemann)].

Between 1976 and 1987 350 reconstructions of the ACL in accordance to Lindemann have been undergone. 81% were injuries caused by sport accidents. Only 3.5% have had relative acute injuries at the time of operation. 344 patients were followed up. 50% have had good results, in 38% of patients no distinction was possible to the controlateral healthy knee joint. The advantages of the dynamic reconstruction of the ACL seemed to be in easy extraction of autogeneous graft, the dynamic function, the circulation and proprioception of the proximal pediculated gracilis tendon and the good results withoutloosening of the muscular pediculated graft.
