The administration of an enterosorbent prevents increase of the level of biologically active substances in blood and exudate of rats in fecal peritonitis. The results of biochemical and radionuclide methods of examination allow 2 mechanisms of reduction of the histamine and serotonin level in blood and exudate to be distinguished--direct and mediated.
Operative management of acute epididymitis performed in 150 patients aged 18-67 produced better therapeutic results compared to 150 patients treated conservatively (9.1 patient day versus 13.3 days). Follow-up for 2-4 years showed marked intergroup differences as regards anatomic changes in the epididymis revealed by palpation and ultrasound scanning. Echographic pattern was altered in 25 operated on and 92 patients treated conservatively. Copulative function was diminished in few cases in those operated on and much more frequently after conservative treatment, libido and erection in particular. Reproductive function was impaired more profoundly after conservative treatment as well. These patients demonstrated lower levels of testosterone and estradiol but higher content of LH and FSH. The latter hormones did not vary with age among the groups. Better effect of scrotal drainage in acute nonspecific epididymitides is attributed to the influence of inflammation-affected epididymis on the contralateral testicle more intensive under conditions of closed (nondrained) inflammation.
The content of aldosterone (A) was studied in rat adrenal glands, blood plasma and peripheral tissues--in the myocardium, skeletal muscles, thymus and liver--1 h after the administration of alpha-adrenergic stimulator noradrenaline and beta-adrenergic stimulator isoprenaline and after simultaneous administration of alpha- and beta-blockers and a sympatholytic agent (pyrroxan, propranolol and bretylium tosylate respectively). Adrenergic stimulation did not change the level of A in the adrenal glands, raised its blood concentration and, to a greater extent, its level in the peripheral tissues. A marked increase in the blood concentration of A resulted from isoprenaline and its accumulation in tissues--from noradrenaline. A decrease in the level of adrenergic activity considerably lowered the A content in the adrenal glands, blood plasma and peripheral tissues excluding the myocardium where this value was higher than in the blood.
Air traffic controllers working in automatic and nonautomatic stations showed high values of lipid metabolism parameters as well as significant activation of the sympathoadrenal system (especially, its hormonal component). The level of the parameters under study was correlated with the workload.

Studies have been made of diurnal changes of adrenalin and noradrenalin content of the blood plasma in egg laying and molting hens. In laying hens at night time, as compared to daily period, the level of both catecholamines decreased, whereas that in molting ones--increased. In laying hens kept under illumination, catecholamine content did not undergo significant diurnal changes. Differences between laying and non-laying hens were absent during the daytime. In laying hens, noradrenalin content of the blood exhibited negative correlation with their egg productivity. Reduction of photoperiod from 14 to 6 h per day resulted in a sharp decrease of egg laying and the development of molting. Under these conditions, artificial increase of adrenalin content of the blood at night time (by means of repetitive injections) prevented the decrease in egg laying. Daily injection of this hormone did not produce this effect. Exogeneous adrenalin inhibited molting irrespectively of the time of its injection. Noradrenalin injections did not affect the molting rate and egg laying in hens. The data obtained reveal possible role of natural adrenalin in regulation of egg laying and molting in hens at night time.
Administration of 6-hydroxydopamine hydrobromide (20-50 mg) into the cerebral ventricles of mice products the depletion of noradrenaline and dopamine in the brain and counteracts the hypothermic effect of dopaminomimetic drugs of direct (apomorphine, piribedil, bromocryptin, CM29-712) and indirect (d, l-amphetamine, L-DOPA) type of action. Pretreatment of animals with the blockers of catecholamines noradrenergic neuronal uptake (desipramine, protryptyline and AW15(1)II29) counteracts both the depletion of noradrenaline in the brain and the antihypothermic effect of 6-hydroxydopamine. The experimental data support the noradrenergic involvement in the hypothermic effect of dopaminomimetics in mice.
