Cytohormonal and histomorphologic patterns in endometrium in symptomatic premenopausal women.

Endometrial histology in the premenopausal symptomatic group revealed hyperplastic endometrium in 29.1 percent of the cases. Cytohormonal evaluation has shown hyperesterin activity reflected by a high Karyopyknotic Index in cystic glandular and adenomatous hyperplasia. A fairly good positive correlation is seen between colpocytology and endometrial histology. In few patients vaginal cytology has revealed regressive activity which was not evident on histology alone. It is felt that cases showing regressive smears are the ones where treatment including estrogens should be most effective.

Leprosy of the larynx.

Five instances of lepromatous leprosy involving lesions of the larynx were encountered among a series of 280 laryngeal lesions. These are briefly described as involving the epiglottis in all cases, vocal cords in two, and extension into the pyriform fossa in one instance.

The detection of endometrial tuberculosis in cases of infertility by uterine aspiration cytology.

The cytology and histopathology of tuberculous endometritis are described in eight cases found among 200 women who presented with primary or secondary infertility. Because tuberculous endometritis is considered a possible cause of such sterility, the combination of endometrial aspiration and biopsy is recommended as an outpatient screening technique in such cases in areas where the rate of endometrial tuberculosis is high.

Pathological analysis of intracranial tumors.

An analysis of 145 intracranial tumors observed in the Department of Pathology, Maulana Azad Medical College, and associated Irwin and G.B. Pant Hospitals was carried out. The relative frequency of the different tumors, their site, and the age and sex of the patients is reported, and compared with previous reports in the literature.
