TFExplorer: integrated analysis database for predicted transcription regulatory elements.

UNLABELLED: TFExplorer is a web-based integrated database for predicted regulatory elements in human, mouse and rat. It shows predicted binding sites of transcription factors in the promoter regions, along with their phylogenetic footprinting information. In addition, TFExplorer can search for genes that have a given sequence pattern in their promoter regions using the motif-searching method. AVAILABILITY: TFExplorer is freely available at http://mars.kribb.re.kr:8080/tfExplorer/ CONTACT: sskimb@kribb.re.kr.

Nanostructured titania powders by hydrothermal processing and spray drying.

Sol-gel precipitates of titania were prepared from organometallic precursors, followed by hydrothermal crystallization and spray drying into spherical, micron-size nanostructured granules that were characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, and microscopy. A systematic investigation of the effect of hydrothermal processing conditions on the physical properties of the granules was carried out. When the hydrothermal processing time was increased, product granules exhibited larger anatase crystallite size and improved thermal stability in pore structure and phase composition. Increasing the hydrothermal processing temperature retarded crystallite growth and increased the anatase-to-rutile transformation temperature.

Frequency-hopping optical orthogonal codes with arbitrary time-blank patterns.

We investigate a general scheme of frequency-hopping optical orthogonal codes with a specified distance between adjacent frequency symbols and propose a novel code that allows time blanks between adjacent frequency symbols in code sequences. A time blank represents the absence of frequency symbols in code sequences and makes no interference with frequency components. The insertion of time-blank patterns can provide ample scope to generate much more code sequences than the conventional codes lacking in time-blank patterns, and we show this by constructing an algorithm to generate the proposed code. The performance analysis demonstrates that its performance is superior to that of the conventional codes in terms of the bit error rate. We also derive the upper bound on the proposed code set.
