[Fatigue fracture below the internal tibial plateau after locked intramedullary nailing].

The authors present a case of stress fracture of the medial condyle of the tibia following intramedullary nailing with distal locking. This complication, which appeared two years after the surgical procedure and one year after the removal of the nail, has not yet been described in the literature. The patient was a young man without any excessive physical load. The presence of the intramedullary nail was accompanied by a bone clearness in the medial part of the superior epiphyseo-metaphyseal level of the tibia.

[Epiphysiolysis of the upper extremities of the femur in idiopathic panhypopituitarism. Apropos of a case with review of the literature].

A case of a 39 year old male patient with slipped capital femoral epiphysis and idiopathic panhypopituitarism is reported. A review of the literature shows that a slipped epiphysis with hypothalamo-hypophyseal dysfunction, may be observed either in a proportional pituitary dwarfism or in a skeletal disproportion of the eunuchoidal or even of the acromegalic type. This association leads to examine the causal role of the hormonal status.

The occurrence of atypical sexual experience among various female patient groups.

Clinical interviews with the use of a standard examination format were used to determine sexually atypical experiences in 373 women. The women were divided into three groups. Group 1: 167 women in fertile marriages, Group 2: 102 patients with sexual dysfunctions, Group 3: 104 patients of psychiatric outpatient clinics. Of these, 190 (50.9%) had encountered indecent exposure at least once; 76 women (20.4%) were the victims of attempted rape or rape; 60 women (16.1%) were sexually abused by an adult male prior to menarche; 36 women (9.6%) acknowledged homosexual contacts. Patients with a sexual dysfunction had been the object of sexual abuse in childhood significantly more often than women in the other groups.

[Multiple capillary aneurysms].

Recurrent eruptions of small, black nodules resembling metastases of malignant melanoma in a 64-year-old male patient with diabetes mellitus are reported. Clinically, the lesions seemed to be angiomas. Histological examination revealed capillary aneurysms. To date there has been no spontaneous regression. Sclerosing injections or compression therapy had no effect. Only total excision of lesions was successful. The etiology of the disease is unknown. The patient had diabetic retinopathy with increased plasma levels of cholesterol.

Computed tomographic guided liver biopsy using the Menghini needle.

CT guided biopsies of the liver using the Menghini needle were performed in 42 patients. The recovery of diagnostic tissue was successful in 86% of focal lesions. Advantages over the blind liver technique include better recovery of diagnostic specimens, while advantages over the ultrasonic guided techniques include greater amount of tissue obtained and better occuracy in guidance. This technique is indicated in those patients with a small number of focal defects in the liver in whom a diagnostic histologic specimen is desired.
