[Calcifying muscular metastases of colonic origin. Apropos of a case localized in the psoas muscle].

A case is reported of calcifying metastases of colon origin localized to psoas muscle. Emphasis is placed on the effectiveness of CT scan and MR imaging and the rarity of this localization. The presence of intra-lesional calcifications as described in hepatic metastases raises the question of the etiopathogenic mechanism and the predictive value of the detection of a calcified mass during the course of colon adenocarcinoma.

[Pseudotumoral retroperitoneal tuberculosis. Apropos of a case].

A case is reported of pseudotumoral retroperitoneal tuberculosis with invasion of left supraclavicular glands. Relative diagnostic efficacy of ultrasound and CT scan imaging is discussed as well as the differential diagnosis of this exceptional lesion. Exploratory procedures suggested with this type of picture are ultrasonography. CT scanning and possibly guided needle puncture biopsy to avoid surgical exploration. The value of the scanner for follow up review of results of antituberculosis treatment is emphasized.

[Muscular metastases. Uncommon manifestation of cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas].

The authors report the detection of a cystadenocarcinoma of the caudal pancreas developed by muscular metastasis. They insist on the rarity of that type of localization to distinguish from the lesions of steatonecrosis. In the check-up of the developing metastasis, this observation bears out the interest of the C.T. of first meaning which allows an approach of lesional characterization owing to the analogies of structure existing between the causal pancreatic lesion and its muscular and hepatic metastasis.

Breast pathology in MRI. First results.

The authors present the first results of the assessment of MRI (0.35 T) with adapted surface reel in the exploration of mammary pathology in 90 cases. On a morphological level, MRI permits a new analysis of signs of dystrophy. As far as MRI is concerned, no specific sign of mammary neoplasia seems to exist. A classification is suggested, taking into account morphology and parameters of relaxation.

[Bone x-ray computed tomographic densitometry by the dual energy technic in a single rotation. Initial results].

Computed tomography is one of the most promising methods for the non-invasive measurement of the bone mass. A review of the theoretical bases of the double energy technique developed by the authors' experimental study on tubes containing defined calcium concentrations and on cadaver vertebrae, demonstrates the value of this investigation in this field. The theoretical study also reveals the limitations of the technique, in particular the decrease in the values induced by fat. The value of this new technique has been confirmed by the preliminary clinical results obtained in non-osteoporotic control women and in women with confirmed osteoporosis, which obviously need to be confirmed by larger series.

[Aggressive behaviour in dementia. RAGE scale, validation of the version in Spanish].

INTRODUCTION: Aggressive behaviours are frequent in the different phases of dementia s evolution. These not only constitute a major problem for the families and the caring staff, but cause fatigue and bur out among them. As these behaviours cannot be predicted or understood, the carers experience very complex and anguishing situations. To avoid subjective factors, Patel and Hope designed and validated a scale named RAGE that can be easily used. OBJECTIVE. Adaptation and validation of the RAGE Scale into Spanish. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The scale has been translated, and then retrotranslated to guarantee the semantic equivalence. Afterwards it has been tested on a group of 60 patients (n= 60). All these patients followed the dementia criteria in DSM-IV and their behaviours were considered as relevantly aggressive by their carers. RESULTS: The total score reliability got an r= 0.93 Spearman coefficient. The internal consistency was determined by Cronbach s alpha (0.90) and the valiability test-retest, analysed by Cohen s kappa, obtained a range from 0.57 to 0.85. CONCLUSIONS: All these elements show similar data in comparison to the original scale validation and therefore this version can be considered adequate for Spanish speaking patients within the Spanish culture.
