[Tubo-ovarian hydatid cyst. Apropos of a case].

The authors report a new case of hydatid disease infecting the Fallopian tube and ovary. Diagnosis was ascertained only upon pathologic examination of the operative specimen. With reference to this case, the signs which may suggest the diagnosis are specified, as well as the treatment and the nosology of these localizations.

[A case of pseudotumorous pulmonary cryptococcosis].

A case of pseudotumorous pulmonary torulosis (or toruloma) clinically suggestive of protracted pneumopathy is reported. The main pathological, clinical and histological forms of this mycotic infection are recalled. The pathologist plays an essential part in the diagnosis of toruloma since the fungus can be demonstrated in bronchial biopsy specimens, bronchial aspirates and sputum.

Acute experimental poisoning by diethylene glycol: acid base balance and histological data in male rats.

Acute intoxication by diethylene glycol (LD 50) in male rats is associated with a severe metabolic acidosis which is significantly decreased by intraperitoneal (IP) hydration or IP alkalinization and eliminated by IP ethanol. Tubular necrosis and deposit of calcium oxalate crkystals constitute the histological renal lesions in 50% of rats given diethylene glycol with or without IP hydration. Groups with massive IP alkalinization and/or IP ethanol do not present any renal lesion. It could be inferred that diethylene glycol has the same metabolic pathway as ethylene glycol and the treatment of acute intoxication by diethylene glycol should be the same as that of acute poisoning by ethylene glycol.

Acid-Base Imbalance↗

[Intestinal lesions induced by radiotherapy of malignant pelvic tumors. Apropos of 2 cases].

Intestinal lesions after radiotherapy for pelvic malignant tumours are of two types: ulcerative colitis with stenosis and hemorrhage sometimes sevre and repeated, and ileal involvement with focal ischemic lesions and malabsorption responsible for nutritional disorders. It is difficult to distinguish them from a recurrence of the tumour in spite of endoscopy, arteriography and biopsy. The course in 3 stages is of great value in diagnosis. A reduction in the frequency of such complications may be hoped for by assessment and exclusion of predisposing factors, by strict observance of therapeutic rules. They are serious owing to the marked irreversible conjunctivo-vascular changes and the fragility of the irradiated tissues during operation.
