[Cocaine and other psychostimulant consumption: their relationship with the childhood hyperactivity syndrome].

INTRODUCTION: We want to know the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among those subjects who require treatment due to cocaine and other psychostimulant drugs consumption. No previous Spanish studies have been found. METHODS: Two groups of male subjects were established out of a total of 109 subjects. Their ages ranged from 16 to 40 years. The groups were "experimental" (patients under treatment) and "control", who underwent a urine analysis for toxic agents. An interview elaborated for this and the E mode SCID-I were used. A total of 21 % of the cocaine consumers had a comorbid history of ADHD in childhood versus 3% of the control group. CONCLUSIONS: The data found overlap with the United States studies. ADHD appears as a new risk factor for the posterior development of cocaine abuse disorder, adding a cocaine addict patient subtype that deserves special diagnostic criteria as well as more complete treatment alternatives for these dual diagnosed patients.

[Osgood's semantic differential in psychopathology: a differential study].

The aim of this paper is to analyze the meanings differences in the temporal perspective of two clinic groups. Some of them showed dysthymic disorders and the other group were found to be paranoiac schizophrenic patients. An differential semantic was used (ACTUAL SELF, IDEAL SELF, NEGATIVE SELF) to analyze to structure of the self-concept and to determine differences in the concepts for temporal perspective (PRESENT, PAST, FUTURE). The results obtained by means of the measurement of meaning correspond to the clinic data. The authors attempt to begin the study of the differences in psychic processes in several clinical groups.

[Personality traits and hyperactive behavior].

The hyperactive child has traditionally been considered impulsive rather out of self-control, anxious, problematic as regards his/her interpersonal relationships, and highlystrung. In this paper, we aim to prove the existence of these traits by analyzing them from a psychometric perspective, and starting from Cattell's theory of traits. We have worked with a sample of 130 hyperactive children and 79 control individuals, aged six to ten, who were diagnosed according to DSM III criteria. We have used the CPQ and ESPQ tests. The data were submitted to a contrast of differences. The results agree with the hypothesis proposed.

[Illness behavior. Attempt to identify clinical types].

The present study brings for the first time the description and assess of several types of "abnormal illness behavior" by using the I.B.Q. in 571 general practice psychiatric ambulatory and hospital surgery and medical patients. Using multivariate analysis techniques (Cluster and Discriminant) we found five patterns of response with the I.B.Q. Two of them (50.5%) showed adaptative response, the other three patterns (49.5%) are classified as "abnormal illness behavior". Its importance and repercussion in medical care is discussed.
