[Vitamin D3 and its analogues: a new age in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris?].

The introduction of this article is devoted to the physiological role of vitamin D3 and its synthesis. The authors refer to the accidental introduction of vitamin D3 into the psoriasis treatment, which later led to the development of a less toxic vitamin D3 analog named calcipotriol, and its administration as a topical antipsoriatic agent. Reviewing the literature the authors discuss the pharmacological and immunological effects of calcipotriol as well as the potential applications of vitamin D3.

[Facial granuloma].

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this case report is to show the results of therapeutical procedures in the facial granuloma. CASE: A 48 year old male patient had multiple facial granulomas persisting for at least 8 years. They were unresponsive to dapsone. The surgical removal of two lesions and the liquid nitrogen cryotherapy of the remaining lesions were efficient without recurrence in a follow-up time of 6 months. COMMENTS: Lesions of facial granuloma do not spontaneously regress; they are easily recognized and differentiated from other conditions occurring on the face. New therapeutical approaches are welcome, even if they are empirical, in so far as they are efficient and reproducible.

[Sneddon syndrome as a clinical manifestation of the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome].

A 39 year old female patient has had reticular skin lesions showing the clinical picture of livedo racemosa for 7 years. Her medical history revealed cerebrovascular disease. In the background of livedo racemosa no systemic disorder could be detected, so the authors considered their case to be Sneddon's syndrome. In the serum of the patient antiphospholipoid antibodies (high anticardiolipin antibody titer, factor lupus anticoagulant) could be detected so the diagnosis mentioned in the title seemed to be correct.

[Grover disease: a disease remotely related to malignant tumors of internal organs].

On the basis of their own findings and literature the authors attempt to give a survey of transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD) described by Grover. The occurrence, etiology, histological types and other features of TAD are discussed with special attention paid interest to its relation to malignant tumors of internal organs. 18 cases of TAD with concomitant internal malignancy have been reported up to now. According to the authors TAD is loosely associated with neoplasm of internal organs. It is suggested that all patients suffering from TAD should be investigated for underlying primary condition (i.e.tumors) and direct immunofluorescence studies may be helpful to clear the etiology.
