[Neuroanatomical study of the efferent vestibular system. II. Distribution of the somas in the brain stem. A morphological and quantitative study].

EVNs are studied in the chinchilla by means of HRP tract tracer. Morphological and quantitative analysis have been made noting that the contralateral groups outnumber the ipsilateral ones. Group I has the biggest number of somas. Round somas predominate over oval and polygonal shapes. In relation with size 10-15 microns, somas predominate.

[The 40 hertz potential: a preliminary study].

In this paper we introduce our preliminary results with 40 Hz. potentials in the study of the auditive pathway in a group of normal subjects. Wave characteristics, amplitude and latency in different frequencies and intensities are analyzed.

[Oropharyngeal functional evaluation in patients subjected to total laryngectomy with phonatory prosthesis. Manometric and isotopic study].

Our goal in this paper is to evaluate the motor function of the oropharinx using esophageal manometry and isotopic study, in patients that underwent total laryngectomy (TL) with phonatory prosthesis (PP), and with or without cricopharyngeal myotomy (CM). 50 por 100 of the laryngectomized patients showed oropharyngeal dysphagia, more frequent and stronger in patients without CM. Voice quality was considered good or medium in 12/20. With manometry we achieve that after TL there is an intense pressure reduction of the UES, higher in patients with CM, there aren't differences for other manometrics parameters. The oropharyngeal isotopic clearance is clearly disturbed in all patients, there aren't differences due to the type of surgery, neither the degree of dysphagia nor the CM. The association of a CM to PL plus PP is a surgical procedure that improves markedly the manometric and clinic results in these patients.

[Adenocarcinoma of the ceruminous glands: report of three cases].

We report three cases of ceruminoma seen in our department over a 1-year period and review the neoplasms of the ceruminous glands. According to the Welti classification, our three cases were ceruminous adenocarcinomas. Based on existing literature, ceruminous adenocarcinoma is the least frequent neoplasm of the ceruminous glands.

[Laryngeal paraganglioma: a case report].

A case of laryngeal paraganglioma in a 25-year-old female is reported. The site of the tumor was the left aryepiglotic fold and ventricular band. The diagnosis was made by histology and immunohistochemistry medial thyrotomy was performed in order to remove a bilateral carotid paraganglioma. We analyzed 76 cases reported in the world literature, clinical, histological, prognostic, and therapeutic factors in laryngeal paraglioma.

[Human leukocyte antigen and otosclerosis].

Fifty patients (32 women, 18 men) who underwent stapedectomy [FISCH, V. (1), 1982] for otosclerosis were studied. Histo-compatibility antigens were typed in all patients using the microlymphocytic test to determine antigens of the HLA system loci A and B. Statistical comparison of results with those obtained in a control group of 339 persons without otosclerosis showed that otosclerosis has a genetic HLA-related component.

[Cytogenetic study in otosclerosis].

In 50 patients (32 females and 18 males) with otosclerosis who underwent stapedectomy, a cytogenetic study of chromosomal abnormalities was made. No description of G banding in patients with otosclerosis was found in the literature. No chromosomal abnormalities were found in the karyotype using this technique.
