An electrophysiological study was performed in 19 patients with polyneuropathy associated with a monoclonal gammopathy. This study has shown some difference according to the type of the gammopathy and the benign or malignant nature of the disease. Patients with benign IgM gammopathy are in an homogenous group. In every case the neuropathy is of the demyelinating type. In the other groups, the neuropathy is less homogenous. Most of the time it was predominantly of axonal type. Within the myeloma group, the neuropathy is more severe and the denervation pattern is marked.
Eight cases of spontaneously regressive cranial nerve paralysis related to the meningo-radiculitis reported by F. Rohmer et al. in 1974 are described. The epidemiological, clinical features, and the CSF changes which should allow early diagnosis are detailed, but this can only be confirmed by the spontaneous regression of the condition. The problems in determining the etiology are emphasised.
UNLABELLED: An open multicentric study of 196 in-patients was carried out in 9 centres. After an initial stabilization (min. 15 days) with oral haloperidol, patients received haloperidol decanoate IM for at least 24 weeks (or a minimum of 9 injections). RESULTS: - esterification of haloperidol increased the duration of its efficacy (interval between 2 injections: average 4 weeks) without interfering with its therapeutic activity (global appreciation scale, BPRS at each injection and at the end of the treatment); - equivalent quantities of haloperidol injected at a time were 15 to 20 times those administered daily during the initial stabilisation period; - side-effects were not different with haloperidol decanoate as compared to those of the previous period (haloperidol).

Our purpose was to investigate the action on memory disorders of patients over sixty years of age of a well tolerated sedative neuroleptic, tiapride, and of a short-half-life benzodiazepine, lorazepam. Thirty subjects divided into two groups were entered in a three week trial. The product's effect on both anterograde memory and remote memory was assessed by the simple memory test used. Statistical conclusions show that tiapride is very significantly superior to lorazepam in every studied criterion, with disinhibition and stimulation of vigilance. These hypotheses need to be confirmed.
CT was performed on ten cases of dural intracranial arteriovenous fistulas. There were 3 fistulas of the transverse sinus draining directly into the homolateral jugular vein; 2 fistulas of the sinus with distal occlusion of the sinus and back flow into the cortical veins (one was on the transverse sinus, the other on the sagittal sinus); 2 fistulas of the middle fossa; 3 fistulas with direct venous drainage into the cortical veins, one of these forming a tumor process in the posterior fossa. Osseous abnormalities were seen in only one case. Cerebral CT abnormalities, such as patchy or vermicular enhancement, were seen in all the cases with fistulas draining into the cerebral veins. Cerebral CT was normal in cases of fistulas of the sinus without back flow into the cerebral veins.
