The intracellular development in acutely infected cells of bovine and canine adenovirus T antigens was followed by immunofluorescent staining. With both species of adenovirus, antigen was first detected as intranuclear pin-points at 18 hr postinfection and coalescence into large lobular masses was noticed by 24 hr. Cross-reactions between bovine 1 (nononcogenic) and bovine 3 (oncogenic) T antigens were not observed by the direct technique although the more sensitive indirect procedure did reveal cross-reactivity. Extensive cross-reactions were observed between the T antigens of the oncogenic canine hepatitis virus and the "nononcogenic" Toronto strain of canine adenovirus. The magnitude of these reactions places the two canine strains in the same T antigen subgroup. The canine and bovine T antigens were not stained by tumor antisera against any of the known human or simian T antigen subgroups. Antigen synthesis was not prevented by inhibitors of deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis although the appearance was altered markedly.

Tumor-specific antigens and antisera were prepared for eight of the oncogenic simian adenoviruses. Complement-fixation tests revealed three distinct serological subgroups. This grouping was maintained in studies of virus-infected cells (T antigens) although high titered preparations were obtained for only the major subgroup I. The current grouping is as follows: (I) SV1, SV11, SV25, SV33, SV34, SV38; (II) SV20, SV23; (III) SA 7. Antigens from each subgroup were rapidly inactivated at 56 C, and group II and III antigens were also markedly inactivated at 37 C. One of the tumors (SV1) also contained SV40 T antigen, suggesting origin from a simian adenovirus-SV40 "hybrid."

Kern, Jerome (Pacific Research Section, Honolulu, Hawaii), and Leon Rosen. Identification of enteroviruses by hemagglutination-inhibition. J. Bacteriol. 91:1936-1942. 1966.-Approximately 40% of a group of 906 enterovirus isolates cytopathic for monkey cell cultures were found to possess hemagglutinins for human erythrocytes when tested at temperatures of 4 and 37 C and at pH 5.8 and 7.3. The hemagglutinating isolates could be classified by relatively simple techniques into 18 serotypes. Four of these serotypes, echovirus type 24 and coxsackievirus B types 1, 5, and 6, had not previously been known to include hemagglutinating strains. One serotype, Toluca-3, represented a previously unrecognized enterovirus, and two other serotypes may also represent previously unrecognized enteroviruses.

Data structure representing a genealogy or genealogies as a stand-alone date structure is presented. Genealogy is considered as a finite, connected graph with nodes ni representing individuals, arcs (ni, nj), ordered pairs of nodes as parent-offspring relationships and edges (ni, nj), unordered pairs of nodes as twinships. Such structure enables storage of the minimum of family relationships and recognition of them and others like 'ancestor-descendant', 'sibs', 'twins', 'cousins', 'uncle/aunt-nephew/niece' or 'spouses'. Algorithms for genealogy retrieval are classified as vertical, lateral and parallel. In certain combinations, vertical and lateral algorithms become capable of finding any relatives, no matter if they are in a direct 'ancestor-descendant' relationship or if they have only the same ancestor(s). A parallel algorithm is designed in order to search for twins, triplets etc.
The aim of this paper was to find out the possibility of life expectancy achievement (LEA) prognosis in open population by using epidemiological data, to improve it and to determine the differences between regions. We were using inductive learning software tool, ASSISTANT Professional, based on modified Quinlan's inductive learning method. Data from an epidemiological study of oil/fat consuming influence on diabetes incidence in different regions in Croatia, 1887 examinees, have been used. In spite of limited number of attributes that were available, an improvement in prognosis of LEA has been made by selecting the proper attributes and by changing the limiting values of attributes (values that change the meaning of attributes). We reached the absolute accuracy of 75.54%. Even after further pruning of decision tree that lowered this value, Assistant showed 13% better result than those of random selected outcome. Differences between regions were also established that could not been explained with attributes that were used. Expanding the list of attributes and analysis of their influence in particular region can make further improvement in prognosis of LEA.
Telemedicine, or medicine at a distance, is based on electronic communications and digital technology, so their development has led to the rapid development of telemedicine as well. Today, telemedicine covers many areas of health care, such as signal transmission on patient health state, image transmission, vertical and horizontal consultations among remote experts, interventions at a distance, teleeducation, medical patient monitoring and alarm, etc. The greatest advantages of telemedicine are increased access to health care, reduced costs and quality improvement. Telemedicine in Croatia has been developing parallel to the world achievements thanks to the well developed infrastructure and enthusiasm of the concerned professionals.
