The relation between the sagittal and transversal diameters in eyes with retinal detachment.

Using A-mode ultrasonography, the axial length and the width (transversal or equatorial diameter) of both eyes--fellow and affected--have been measured in patients with retinal detachment. For comparison, the same measurements have been performed in healthy controls. The patients have been divided into different groups. It was found that there are some changes in the relation between the axial length and the width of the eyes in patients with retinal detachment, according to the comparison with healthy people, in most cases.

[Minipress in the treatment of prostatic adenoma].

Own results are presented of the use of Minipress in the conservative treatment of prostatic adenoma. On the basis of literature survey, the indications are discussed to this treatment.

[Clinical evaluation of Ocuflur].

Presented is the initial clinical evaluation of Ocuflur, a compound of Allergan. The influence of the drug on the size of the pupil and the reaction of the pupil to a light flash was tested in volunteer subjects. The efficacy of the drug was tested intraoperatively.

[Effect of complex treatment of retinitis pigmentosa on the results of pupillography].

Presented are the results of a 3 years long observation of the pupillary reaction in patients with pigmentary retinal dystrophy who have been subjected to a complex treatment. The authors discovered a consistency between the changes in the visual field and the amplitude of the pupillary reaction.

[Rheographic studies in intraocular tumors].

Investigations concerned a group of 15 patients with an intraocular tumor diagnosed by clinical examination, ultrasonography and computer tomography. The record of the rheographical curve of the healthy and affected eye was performed. In all the cases the eye was enucleated and histopathological examination done. In the evaluation of results attention was called to a much higher altitude of the curve in the eye with the tumor which could evidence an increased blood flow in the eye ball.

[Pupillography in unilateral retinal detachment].

The reaction of the pupil for light was checked in 25 patients with an unilateral retinal detachment. The sore eye and the fellow-eye were examined separately. The deterioration of the reaction was dependent on the area of detachment and on the condition of the macula.
